We feel very fortunate to have these opportunities, and our community benefits from them greatly.” CIAX 98,3 FM (Windsor, Quebec) 98,3 FM (Windsor, CIAX CIFA 104,1 FM (Saulnierville, New Brunswick) New FM (Saulnierville, 104,1 CIFA This year, the Community Radio Fund of Canada’s efforts to diversify its sources of revenue have paid off. In fact, the Canada Revenue Agency granted us a non-profit organization registration number which will allow us to implement the Community Radio Foundation of Canada, to the benefit of about180 community radio stations across the country. Throughout 2016, the Fund distributed close to $3 million to campus and community stations as part of its 6th round of financing for its Radiometres program. We are well aware that this contribution, although significant, does not satisfy the essential needs of campus and community stations. It is therefore imperative that we continue our diversification efforts to find other donors. MESSAGE I would like to thank the Community Radio Fund of Canada board members who assisted me in my functions of president. I was able to count on the Fund’s executive FROM THE office regularly. The board welcomed four new members: Ashly Kissman, Sylvain Lafrance, Monique Levesque and Pierre-Louis Smith. My heartfelt thanks to the PRESIDENT entire board for their dedication to the growth of the campus and community radios movement. Sadly, we have learned that Peter Fleming, one of our board members, passed away this year. The Fund was privileged to benefit from Peter’s expertise and passion for campus and community radio. We extend our sincere condolences to his family. The Fund recently hired a new executive director, Amély Friolet-O’Neil. We warmly welcome her into the great community and campus radio family. The current annual report will allow you to understand the significant impact the Fund has had on the develop- ment of campus and community radios all over the country since its inception. Enjoy the read. TABLE OF CONTENTS Chairs Remarks _________________________________________________ 3 Treasurer's Report _______________________________________________ 6 CEO's Report___________________________________________________ 8 Committee's Report _____________________________________________ 10 CHAIR’S REMARKS – DEIRDRE WADE As we come together this morning albeit virtually, we have the incredible opportunity to reflect upon the accomplishments and celebrate the success of the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce and our members during 2019. Our bicentennial year was one that presented significant opportunities and our accolades over the past twelve months are truly the successes of our members and our business community as a whole. While we currently find ourselves in challenging and unique circumstances, we must not let this define what can easily be considered, one of the most successful years in our history. Last year’s AGM on April 5th occurred exactly 200 years to the day that a group of local business leaders met at Cody’s Coffeehouse on the southeast corner of King and Prince William Streets to form an association to correspond with similar groups in other parts of Canada and in England. Following the 200th AGM we were pleased to showcase the extensive history of the Chamber in the Saint John Region and to have Premier Blaine Higgs address our celebratory luncheon. In September, we welcomed the representatives of the many chambers of commerce from across the country, as the Saint John Region Chamber hosted, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Annual General Meeting and Convention. This unique opportunity for the Chamber brought nearly four-hundred delegates to the Saint John region and contributed an estimated half a million dollars in economic benefits for our local businesses.

  • Sheigra Dxpedition Report
Sheigra DXpedition Report 12 th to 25 th October 2019 - with Dave Kenny & Alan Pennington This was the 58th DXpedition to Sheigra in Sutherland on the far north western tip of the Scottish mainland, just south of Cape Wrath. DXers made the first long drive up here in 1979, so this we guess, was the 40 th anniversary? And the DXers who first made the trip to Sheigra in 1979 to listen to MW would probably notice little change here today: the single-track road ending in the same cluster of cottages, the cemetery besides the track towards the sea and, beyond that, the machair in front of Sheigra’s sandy bay. And surrounding Sheigra, the wild windswept hillsides, lochans and rocky cliffs pounded by the Atlantic. (You can read reports on our 18 most recent Sheigra DXpeditions on the BDXC website here: http://bdxc.org.uk/articles.html ) Below: Sheigra from the north: Arkle and Ben Stack the mountains on the horizon. Once again we made Murdo’s traditional crofter’s cottage our DX base. From here our long wire Beverage aerials can radiate out across the hillsides towards the sea and the Americas to the west and north west, and eastwards towards Asia, parallel to the old, and now very rough, peat track which continues on north east into the open moors after the tarmac road ends at Sheigra. right: Dave earths the Caribbean Beverage. We were fortunate to experience good MW conditions throughout our fortnight’s stay, thanks to very low solar activity. And on the last couple of days we were treated to some superb conditions with AM signals from the
