High Energy Performance by the Raghu Dixit Project

A six-member “Raghu Dixit Project” music band entertained the packed Balairung Soesilo Soedirman, auditorium with great variety of contemporary folk songs. The colourful music performance was the fourth performance to visit Indonesia under “Sahabat India – The Festival of India in Indonesia”.

H.E. Mr. Gurjit Singh, Ambassador of India to Indonesia and Timor Leste, Ambassadors and diplomats of several foreign Missions stationed in Jakarta, senior Indonesian dignitaries and Indian businessmen and professionals were among the prominent people who watched the performance.

The Raghu Dixit Project, is a multilingual folk music band from Bangalore, India. Dixit's music is an amalgamation of Indian ethnic music and styles from different parts of the world. The Band sang several of their popular songs such as ‘Jag Changa’; ‘Masti ki Basti’; ‘Kodagana Koli Nungita’; ‘Lokada Kalaji’; ‘Maarbodu Ennai Alli’; ‘Anjana Dil Mera’; ‘Mysore se Aay Ho’ etc which enthralled the audience. The high energy performance of Band made the audience dance and tap their feet. Dixit has produced music for contemporary dance, theatre and Indian movies. The Band has performed all over the world including in the United States, the UK, Korea, Japan, Russia, Hong Kong and India.

H.E. Mr. Gurjit Singh, Ambassador of India in his brief speech said that the Raghu Dixit Band is a rare music band which composes contemporary folk music. He said that even though Bollywood music is popular in Indonesia, we should also propagate newer genre of music. The ecstatic audience danced and took photographs with the artists of the Raghu Dixit Project. The Band will perform in Java Jazz Festival on 8.3.2015.
