State High Cricket State High has a proud tradition of developing talented cricketers and outstanding men. We are a value-based program that encourages our cricketers to live by standards and values that promote maturity, leadership and integrity. We firmly believe that better people make better cricketers.

Brisbane State High has 18 teams that compete in the prestigious Great Public Schools’ Association of Queensland Inc. (GPS) competition. During Term 1, our young cricketers play against GPS schools ranging from The Southport School on the Gold Coast, Toowoomba Grammar School to the west and St Joseph’s Nudgee College to the north.

The GPS competition provides our teams the opportunity to play a high level of cricket against some of Queensland’s most talented junior cricketers. During our 99 year history, State High cricketers have won seven GPS First XI Premierships as well as 10 Five Highs titles.

Furthermore, we have seen numerous Old Boys progress through Queensland and Australian ranks. State High has produced two Test -keepers in Ian Healy and John Maclean, as well as Bulls gloveman Jimmy Peirson. Also associated with the current Bulls squad are , Corey Hunter and Blake Edwards, who made his Sheffield Shield debut against Victoria last year. In addition, two more State High Old Boys have gone on to wear the baggy green: Michael Kasprowicz and

Those who enrol at State High will join a proud cricket heritage and have the opportunity to create their own legacy.

The State High Cricket Program The cricket program extends across three terms of the school year. Starting in Term 3, our preseason consists of strength and conditioning as well as specialised training programs. During Term 4, students participate across various development squads, as well as taking part in our touring program. At the start of the year, cricketers move into their preseason before commencing the GPS Cricket competition, where they play a series of eight matches. State High Cricket
