LISA FISCHER BIO Lisa Fischer is a singer who really gets around. Her life is an endless round of planes, trains, and automoBiles, rehearsals and fittings. On tour with the Rolling Stones, Sting, Chris Botti or Nine Inch Nails, her name may not Be on the marquee, But she doesn't care. She's Busy loving every minute of it. It's easy to see why she works all the time: her astonishing range, her spot-on intonation, her mastery of the stage, the way her tone wraps itself around your heart and won't let go, the infectious quality of her time feel: these things keep her on top of the list. But it's the sweetness of her smile, her visiBle pleasure in watching her Bandmates do their stuff, her glamorous- girl-next-door quality that make fans all over the world think she's their own secret discovery (despite the fact that the YouTube version of her duet with Mick Jagger on 'Gimme Shelter' has millions of hits). The rest of her resume is pretty impressive too: touring, recording, and music making with Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Beyonce, Dionne Warwick, Dolly Parton, Bobby McFerrin, Alicia Keyes, Lou Reed, Louie Vega, Aretha Franklin, John Scofield, George Benson, Laurie Anderson, Lee Ritenour, Jackie Evancho (and many others). Along with many other top session and backup singers like Darlene Love, Merry Clayton, Patti Austin, and Judith Hill, "the greatest artists you've never heard of" (but whose voices are instantly recognizable), she's featured in Morgan Neville's acclaimed documentary film Twenty Feet from Stardom, distributed By Miramax in the US and scheduled for European premieres throughout 2013-2014 season.

  • Four Years Ago, Jack Savoretti Quit Making Music. He
KÜNSTLER: JACK SAVORETTI SINGLE: TIE ME DOWN ALBUM: WRITTEN IN SCARS LABEL: BMG Chrysalis/ rough trade LC: 19813 VÖ: 13.02.2015 Four years ago, Jack Savoretti quit making music. He’d had enough – of scratching a living as an independent artist, of business bust-ups, of being touted as a soon-to-be star. He’d spent two years (and all of his savings) in legal dispute with a former manager and seen the release of his second album so botched it barely came out. He was 26 and recently married, with a baby on the way. “I thought that was my run, I’d had fun and now it was time to get a proper job,” says Savoretti. “I was done with music and, honestly, I didn’t mind.” What happened next couldn’t have surprised the singer more. “As soon as I said, ‘screw this’, I couldn’t stop writing,” he recalls. “I wrote out of anger, although the songs were more of a cry for help. It was the best, most personal music I’d ever made. I realised I had really learnt how to write, how to express exactly what was in my head.” That album, 2011’s critically-acclaimed ‘Before The Storm’, saw Savoretti turn a corner. That he was an exceptional singer was never in dispute – those gorgeous, gritty, soul- soaked vocals that caused such a fuss when he first emerged and saw his DIY debut, 2007’s ‘Between The Minds’, championed by Radio 2 – but by his own admission, his early work was him finding his feet.

11th Grade English Worksheet Bundle: Volume Two Printable English worksheets from Edmentum's Study Island. Grade 11 English: Summary What’s so special about a bunch of green beans called edamame? It’s not just the name, but also the contents that make this seed a favorite among Japanese and Chinese people. Edamame is a fancy name coined for boiled soybeans. We all know how healthy and nutritious soybeans are. Eating half a cup of these tasty beans punches up the intake of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals in a diet. An interviewer once saw Faith Hill snacking on edamame at an interview for Country Music Television. Soy is known to promote good health and prevent certain diseases. A recent study shows that soy helps reduce insulin resistance, kidney damage, and increases good cholesterol. Soy products have components that fight cancer. Isoflavone is the most active anti-cancer element in soy products. Studies show that consuming 100-200 milligrams of isoflavone a day can lower the risk of cancer. 1. What is a good summary of paragraph 2? A. Japanese and Chinese are the only people known to eat soy-based products. B. • Memoirs of a Geisha Arthur Golden Chapter One Suppose That You and I Were Sitting in a Quiet Room Overlooking a Gar-1 Den, Chatt
Generated by ABC Amber LIT Converter, http://www.processtext.com/abclit.html Memoirs Of A Geisha Arthur Golden Chapter one Suppose that you and I were sitting in a quiet room overlooking a gar-1 den, chatting and sipping at our cups of green tea while we talked J about something that had happened a long while ago, and I said to you, "That afternoon when I met so-and-so . was the very best afternoon of my life, and also the very worst afternoon." I expect you might put down your teacup and say, "Well, now, which was it? Was it the best or the worst? Because it can't possibly have been both!" Ordinarily I'd have to laugh at myself and agree with you. But the truth is that the afternoon when I met Mr. Tanaka Ichiro really was the best and the worst of my life. He seemed so fascinating to me, even the fish smell on his hands was a kind of perfume. If I had never known him, I'm sure I would not have become a geisha. I wasn't born and raised to be a Kyoto geisha. I wasn't even born in Kyoto. I'm a fisherman's daughter from a little town called Yoroido on the Sea of Japan. In all my life I've never told more than a handful of people anything at all about Yoroido, or about the house in which I grew up, or about my mother and father, or my older sister-and certainly not about how I became a geisha, or what it was like to be one.
