COVID-19 NSP Response Information Note 2 from the Parish Council

Volunteer Arrangements Last week, we called for volunteers. We had a strong and swift response. So many thanks. If you have not yet volunteered and wish to do so, it’s not too late. Please get in touch with Ian Hasell (village of NSP) or Rex Eastment ().  Ian Hasell 07740 859202 [email protected]  Rex Eastment 07977 211150 [email protected]

We shall do our utmost to support people at this uncertain time, and we shall be pro-active. We shall follow central guidance as it emerges on minimising any risks to volunteers and recipients in how groceries etc are collected and delivered.

Volunteers have been organised into two groups.

 Group A - collecting food and other essential supplies, including prescriptions, making deliveries and running errands,

 Group B - lists the people who would be glad to speak on the phone to those who would welcome a call. This will typically be those who are self-isolating; but others, too, might like to talk on the phone.

Group A consists of three teams to cover the village of NSP (Upper, Middle and Lower). A list of streets in each area is set out at the end of this note. A fourth team is covering Farleigh Hungerford and its outlying areas.

 Team 1 (Upper) Co-ordinator: Peter Yarker 01373 834268 [email protected]  Team 2 (Middle) Co-ordinator: Mark Finch 07876 1091100 [email protected]  Team 3 (Lower) Co-ordinator: Chris Parsons 07764 958043 and 01373 834769 [email protected]  Farleigh Hungerford are making their own, parallel, arrangements.

Residents of the village who would like a delivery should get in touch with their area Co- ordinator. Farleigh Hungerford residents should make contact with Rex Eastment. If you don’t live in either, please contact Clive Abbott 07966 283145 [email protected] We are trying to obtain best guidance on collecting and making deliveries. Public Health (PHE) has advised people who are self-isolating to do what they can to avoid visitors to their homes: therefore any deliveries of groceries etc will be left at the door for you to pick up, thus avoiding close contact. Pending further advice, we suggest that it would be sensible for recipients to pay for deliveries electronically if possible.

Volunteers will often incur fuel costs. To be fair to volunteers, and to minimise bureaucracy, we suggest that recipients might like to consider a donation of 45p a mile if they are comfortable with that. If some volunteers choose not to take this up, that’s up to them. It would be an informal arrangement between the two people involved. That said, we’ll all learn by experience in the weeks ahead: the PC will keep this issue under review.

Group B These are the people who would be glad to phone anyone who would welcome a call. So don’t hesitate to speak to one of them.

Further Information

The national advice and instructions are changing all the time. We shall take careful account of that in issuing further information.

We are hand-delivering this second PC note to try to ensure that everyone receives it. (There will be no leaflet drop in Farleigh Hungerford as Rex Eastment has everyone’s e- mail address). From now on, however, information will appear on the PC website www.nortonstphilipparishcouncil.co.uk and also on Community Facebook http://www.facebook.com/NSPcommunity. If you don’t have internet access, please talk to a family member or friend who does, to be sure of keeping informed.
