ELY CATHEDRAL, FRIDAY 12th JULY, 7pm Featuring local primary school singers from across East Cambridgeshire and a live orchestra conducted by Chris Parsons. An evening for all the family!

CONCERT PROGRAMME Welcome!

The Isle of Ely Arts Festival are delighted to present ‘A Night at the Movies’ in the wonderful surroundings of Ely Cathedral. We’ve got a wide range of music to play this evening and please do feel free to sing along!

On beginning to plan for this project back in 2018 I was very keen to bring together a number of community groups and schools and I’m delighted that so many schools and groups are here this evening to be part of this performance, a real community led project! We have children singing from across Ely, musicians from a number of local amateur orchestras and adult singers from Ely and further afield. This is what community music should be about and I’m so excited and privileged to stand in front of it all.

May I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved in this project. There are too many people to thank in person! There are a number of people who without them this project simply would have not been possible. Firstly to all the Isle of Ely Arts Festival committee for all their help and support, particularly Jackie Moakes, Sheila Friend Smith and Debbie Tye. As a committee we are extremely grateful for the support given by the Cathedral for this concert and particularly to Sallyann Ford for all her help throughout the planning of this concert. I would also like to thank the committee of the Bury Friendly Orchestra particularly Jane Roberts, Debbie Farrell and Nicola Macrae for all their amazing help in making this event run so smoothly.

Finally my thanks to all the performers this evening for being part of this event, it’s been great fun working with you all on bringing this concert together. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. I hope you enjoy a great evening of music and thank you for supporting ‘A Night at the Movies’!

Chris Parsons, Conductor.
