Book by and Music and Lyrics by Mel brooks and Sunday, June 16, 2:30 p.m. Original Direction and Choreography by Susan stroman “Puttin’ on the Ritz” by American News photo by John Davis. FROM THE Artistic/Managing DIRECTOR Welcome to ACT’s 2013 season. I’m pleased you’re here to join us for the summer musical. “Young Frankenstein” is a classic. Really? You may ask. Well, the Mel Brooks’ film is considered a cult classic. The stage version… not so much. Not yet. But we hope you have as much fun as the cast had putting it together for you. BOARD OF DIRECTORS Please take a minute to fill out the survey in your program. These Barb Evans, President surveys help us make better decisions about shows and marketing. Ann Rasmussen, Vice-president Like, what type of show will work best when, who our audiences Linda Bartholomew, Secretary are and how do we best reach them. Thank you for your help. It means a lot. Hand the Kathy Stuck, Treasurer completed survey to an usher now or on your way out of the theater. By now, each of you have experienced some of the new things at ACT. When Members at Large purchasing your ticket for this show, you used a new web-based ticketing system by Vendini. It allows for tickets sold to the general public, to be purchased online and Linda Batteen, Gregg Magera, printed at home. Unfortunately, that only applies to credit card sales at the moment. Dr. Curt Wischmeier ACT member coupons still need to be redeemed at the box office at Kathleen’s or by Rory King, Legal Counsel mail. By next season we hope to have the ability to redeem member coupons online as well. But don’t worry, the box office will always be open at Kathleen’s to help with STAFF your ticket purchases thanks to Kathy Stuck and all the wonderful ladies there. We James L. Walker, appreciate your patience as we have initiated this new online box office system. Artistic/Managing Director This season, with the installation of the new digital projector, we are testing a new Brian T. Schultz, on screen recognition system. As you have noticed, our sponsors and advertisers have Education/Technical Director been displayed on the screen here in the theater and in the lobby. Please let us know Heidi Jenson, Technical Assistant how you feel about the new sponsor/advertiser recognition. They are an important part of ACT and we sincerely appreciate their continued support and yours. Please let them Ronda Anderson, Administrative Assistant know you appreciate their support of ACT as well. ACT is a proud again, thanks for coming and growing with ACT! Your “Getting in the ACT,” member of the keeps us looking to the future; and it’s a bright future with your support. If you have not yet made a contribution for 2013, please use the back of the program. Thanks so much American Association for your continued support. It is greatly appreciated. We cannot keep ACT going without of Community Theatre each of you. [email protected] Improving Communities – James L. Walker One Theatre at a Time www.aact.org FROM THE DIRECTOR It was only natural after all the fun we had with Mel Brooks’ “” a few summers back that ACT would turn again to a new Mel Brooks’ musical. Back in 1974, and once again teamed up with Gene Wilder, Brooks and Wilder created a marvelous parody of all those black and white monster films from Universal Pictures from the 1930s. The resulting

support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota film was an enormous box office hit and has a prestigious spot on the through the Department of Tourism and State Development and American Film Institute’s 100 Funniest Comedies of all Time. Fast forward to 2007. To follow up the enormous success of his first Broadway venture, Brooks turned to “Young Frankenstein,” again working with most of the same team that brought “The Producers” to life, and created another monster hit. For ACT’s production, you will see a lot of the same volunteers who brought our “Producers” to hilarious life in 2009. It’s a joyous reunion and also a chance to once again share with ACT audiences the wacky humor and incredible fun of Mel Brooks. So enjoy- it’s alive! – daniel yurgaitis
