It was prepared by the teachers and students involved in the project – from: Greece, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey. It’ll be a teaching aid and the source of information about the recent European history. Jung uses those theories for the first time as part of his treatment of Sabina Spielrein, a young Russian woman bro- ught to his care. She is obviously troubled despite her assertions that she is not crazy. Jung is able to uncover the reasons for Sa- bina’s psychological problems, she who is an aspiring physician herself. In this latter role, Jung employs her to work in his own research, which often includes him and his wife Emma as test subjects. Jung is eventually able to meet Freud himself, they, ba- sed on their enthusiasm, who develop a friendship driven by the- ir lengthy philosophical discussions on psychoanalysis. Actions by Jung based on his discussions with another patient, a fellow psychoanalyst named Otto Gross, lead to fundamental chan- ges in Jung’s relationships with Freud, Sabina and Emma. Those relationships are also affected by Freud’s unbending views of psychoanalysis and its use, by Sabina’s growing self-awareness of what drives her emotionally, regardless of their negative root causes, and by Emma’s feelings of guilt over not being able to produce a male heir for her husband. Three astronauts, Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Jack Swigert were sup- posed to go to the moon, a destination that people seemingly were no longer interested in. In fact, their broadcasts from space didn’t even make the news. And then the words came: „Ho- uston...we’ve got a problem.” On Earth, the astronauts’ families wait in horror as the reports continue to flow in. Bad reports. Gene Kranz, the flight director in Houston, works around the clock, hoping, just hoping, that so- mething will actually go right. And Ken Mattingly, who, two days before the launch, was stripped of his chance to go into space due to the measles, attempts to figure out a way to get his friends back home. And suddenly, the news media becomes attentive as the whole world watches, praying for the safe return of three brave astronauts. 205, 000 miles from home, the three astronauts watch as their crippled craft jettisons oxygen into space and carbon dioxi- de levels rise to brain damaging levels. They watch as the tem- perature drops past freezing, icing the windows and numbing their bodies. And they watch as their spaceship gets farther and farther from Earth, realizing that they may never see home aga- in. APRIL CAPTAINS (2000) Capitães de Abril Director: Maria de Medeiros Writers: Maria de Medeiros, Ève Deboise Stars: Stefano Accorsi, Maria de Medeiros, Joaquim de Almeida Country: Portugal | Spain | Italy | France Genres: Drama | History | War Trailer Renowned actress Maria de Medeiros directs this sweeping historical drama set in Portugal about the heady days leading up to April 25, 1974, when that country was finally freed from 40 years of Fascist rule. The film opens with a series of grisly black and white photographs of Portuguese war atrocities committed against its colonies -- Angola, Mozambique, and Guinea-Bissau. Antonia (de Medeiros) is a teacher who begs her minister-bro- ther to release a couple of her students from the clutches of the secret police. As a result, she herself gets captured, interroga- ted, and tortured. At the same time, a young couple bid a tear- ful adieu at the train station just as the man, Capt. Maia (Stefano Accorsi) is drafted to fight in the colonies. Just before the youth gets shipped off to Africa, he manages to persuade the soldiers of a remote army outpost to rebel. Along with his buddies Lobao (Fele Martinez) and Antonia’s ex-husband Manuel (Frederic Pier- rot), Maia manages to storm a radio station and ultimately be- siege the national guard barracks, which houses the president and military advisors. This film was screened at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide BEHIND ENEMY LINES (2001) Director: John Moore Writers: Jim Thomas, David Veloz Stars: Gene Hackman, Owen Wilson, Gabriel Macht Country: USA Genres: Action | War | Drama | Thriller Trailer A television commercial for a Sega game system that aired during the 1999 MTV Music Video Awards landed debut director John Moore a gig behind the camera of this military action thril- ler. Fighter navigator Chris Burnett wants out: he was looking for something more than the boring recon missions he’s been flying. He finds himself flying the lone Christmas day mission over war- -torn Bosnia. But when he talks pilot Stackhouse into flying slightly off-course to check out an interesting target, the two get shot down. Burnett is soon alone, trying to outrun a pursuing army, while commanding officer Reigert finds his rescue operation hamstrung by politics, forcing Burnett to run far out of his way. BELVEDERE (2010) Director: Ahmed Imamovic Writers: Ahmed Imamovic, Aida Pilav Stars: Sadzida Setic, Nermin Tulic, Emina Muftic Country: Bosnia and Herzegovina Genres: Drama Trailer This film deals with the tragedy of the women survivors of the Srebrenica genocide, or rather, the consequences of the horrors they experienced - it is about women whose sole purpose in life is to locate the bones of their loved ones and give them a decent burial. Fifteen years later, they still want just one simple thing - the truth. As a contrast, the film also deals with trivialities of modern living, including obsession with different reality shows. BILLY ELLIOT (2000) Director: Stephen Daldry Writer: Lee Hall Stars: Jamie Bell, Julie Walters, Jean Heywood Country: UK | France Genres: Drama | Music | Romance Trailer A talented young boy becomes torn between his unexpec- ted love of dance and the disintegration of his family. 1984: In a northern England mining town, miners are on stri- ke and the atmosphere is tense. Eleven-year old Billy Elliot, whose father and brother are participating in the strike, whose mother has died quite some time ago and whose grandmother is not completely aware of what’s going on, doesn’t like the brutal boxing lessons at school. Instead, he falls for the girls’ ballet les- sons. When his folks find out about this unusual love of his, Billy is in trouble. Being supported by the ballet teacher, Mrs. Wilkinson, he keeps on training secretly while the work situation as well as the problems at home get worse. Finally, Mrs. Wilkinson manages to get Billy an audition for the Royal Ballet School, but now he also has to open his heart to his family. BLOODY SUNDAY (2002) Director: Paul Greengrass Writer: Paul Greengrass Stars: James Nesbitt, Tim Pigott-Smith, Nicholas Farrell Country: UK | Ireland Genres: Drama | History | War Trailer Both sides agree that on Jan. 30, 1972, a civil rights march in Derry, Northern Ireland, ended with a confrontation between some of the marchers and British army paratroopers. At the end of the day, 13 marchers were dead and 14 in the hospital, one of whom later died. No British soldiers were killed. An official inquiry declared that the soldiers had returned the fire of armed mar- chers. Some of the soldiers involved were later decorated by the crown. Beyond this agreement, there is a disagreement so deep and bitter that 30 years later „Bloody Sunday” is still an open wound in the long, contested history of the British in Northern Ireland. A new inquiry into the events of the day was opened in 1998 and still continues today. Paul Greengrass’ film „Bloody Sunday,” which shared the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival this year, is made in the form of a documentary. It covers about 24 hours, starting on Saturday evening, and its central character is Ivan Cooper (James Nesbitt), a civil rights leader in Derry. He was a Protestant MP from the nationalist Social Democratic Labour Par- ty. Most of the 10,000 marchers on that Sunday would be Catho- lic; that a Protestant led them, and stood beside such firebrands as Bernadette Devlin, indicates the division in the north between those who stood in solidarity with their co-religionists, and those of all faiths who simply wanted the British out of Northern Ireland. This is the first time that a German filmmaker has ever received one of the Zurich Film Festival’s honorary awards. Tykwer will collect his award in person during the Award Night at the Zurich Opera House. The ZFF will screen his most important films in a retrospective held at the Filmpodium. The ZFF is delighted that one of Europe’s most versatile directors is coming to Zurich. “Tom Tykwer has ensured that German film has once more gained in renown, significance and innovation, both on a national and international level,” said the festival management. Born 1965 in Wuppertal, Tom Tykwer shot his first feature DEADLY MARIA in 1993. He founded the X Filme Creative Pool in 1994 together with Stefan Arndt and the directors Wolfgang Becker and Dani Levy. It is currently one of Germany’s most successful production and distribution companies. RUN LOLA RUN Tykwer’s second cinema feature WINTER SLEEPERS (1997) was screened in competition at the Locarno Film Festival. RUN LOLA RUN followed in 1998, with Franka Potente and Moritz Bleibtreu finding themselves as the protagonists in a huge international success. The film won numerous awards, including the Deutscher Filmpreis in Gold for best directing.
