Getting to the Fraser Coast
GETTING TO THE FRASER COAST DRIVE TO THE FRASER COAST The Fraser Coast is just a short 3.5 hour drive north from Brisbane, Queensland's capital city. You will turn off the Bruce Highway towards Maryborough, Queensland. Maryborough is situated on the “Mary River.” A town full of historic charm. Maryborough is approximately a 30 minute drive to Hervey Bay on the coast. Hervey Bay is your gateway to K'Gari (Fraser Island) and Lady Elliot Island situated on the Southern Great Barrier Reef. TRAVEL BY AIR Hervey Bay airport is situated in a suburb called Urangan. The airpoirt is a 5 minute drive to the beach and most accommodation places. – Virgin australia operate daily. Direct flights are available from Sydney to Hervey Bay. (Fraser Coast) – Qantas Link operate several flights a day from Brisbane. This is a 35 minute flight. – Seair flies from Hervey Bay airport to Lady Elliot Island daily on the Southern Great Barrier Reef. – Air Fraser Island operate flights from Hervey Bay airport to the eastern side of Fraser Island. They also operate scenic flights for tourists. TRAVEL BY RAIL Queensland Rail operates regular daily services from Brisbane, Rockhampton and Cairns to Maryborough West train station on the Fraser Coast. Transfers are linked to Hervey Bay stops. TRAVEL BY COACH BUS Greyhound and Premier bus companies both operate several services in and out of the Fraser Coast. Need more information? Abstract This report describes a methodology for the design and coupling of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) Fuel Cell to an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The report summarizes existing work in the field, the type of UAV and the mission requirements, design the fuel cell system, simulation environment, and compares endurance and range to when the aircraft is fitted with a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE). 1. Introduction Research on the design and path planners for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAVs) is rapidly increasing. Some examples include [1-5].Research indicates that a fuel cell electric propulsion system can be beneficial for small (UAVs) used for long endurance, search and rescue, military and homeland security missions [6]. Electric fuel cell only operation system eliminates exhaust emissions that pollute environment and may interfere with onboard sensors [6]. -

New Air Conditioning Design Temperatures for Queensland
New air-conditioning design temperatures for Queensland, Australia by Eric Peterson¹, Nev Williams¹, Dale Gilbert¹, Klaus Bremhorst² ¹Thermal Comfort Initiative of Queensland Department of Public Works, Brisbane ²Professor of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Queensland, St Lucia Abstract : This paper presents results of a detailed analysis of meteorological data to determine air conditioning design temperatures dry bulb and wet bulb for hundreds of locations throughout Queensland, using the tenth-highest daily maximum observed per year. This is a modification of the AIRAH 1997 method that uses only 3PM records of temperature. In this paper we ask the reader to consider Australian Bureau of Meteorology official “climate summaries” as a benchmark upon which to compare various previously published comfort design temperatures, as well as the new design temperatures proposed in the present paper. We see some possible signals from climate change, but firstly we should apply all available historical data to establish outdoor design temperatures that will ensure that cooling plant are correctly sized in the near future. In a case- studies of Brisbane, we find that inner city temperatures are rising, that airport temperatures are not, and that suburban variability is substantially important.
