Julie Young enters her seventh season as the head coach of the Villanova women’s lacrosse program in 2018.

In 2017, Young had coached her first BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in attacker Katie Comerford. Comerford became the first ever Villanova player to win BIG EAST Fresh- man of the Year after finishing the season as the top-scoring freshman in the conference with 40 goals, 16 assists and 56 points. She led the Wildcats in all three categories. Her 2.78 goals per game was third best in the conference, while her 3.89 points per game average ranked fifth.

The 2016 campaign saw grad student Jackie Froccaro conclude her illustrious Wildcat career as the second all-time leading scorer in program history, finishing her career with 130 goals and 24 assists for a total of 154 points. The grad student also scooped up 54 Julie Young ground balls in her four seasons. Head Coach Young has coached a total of 10 BIG EAST first and second team members in her first Seventh Season seven seasons as the head coach of the Wildcats. Comerford and Sam Scarfogliero have been the most recent Wildcats to earn BIG EAST postseason honors, as both land- Princeton '01 ed on the second team in the 2017 season. She has mentored teams that have succeeded on and off the field, as the Wildcats earned the IWLCA Team Aca- demic Award in 2016, as five Wildcats earned individual IWLCA Academic awards. The 2015 season saw many firsts for the program; the team qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament, senior Froccaro was named BIG EAST Attacker of the Year, and four players during 2015 were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. A two-time Tigers soccer captain, three time MVP, four time All-Ivy selection, and three time Mid-Atlantic Regional All America, Young was named the C. Otto von Kienbusch Award winner during her senior year. This is awarded annually to a Princeton senior woman of high scholastic rank who has demonstrated general proficiency in athlet- ics and the qualities of a true sportswoman. From 2011-2013, Young served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for the IWLCA. Julie and her husband Mike have four children, Kelsey, Sydney, Graham, and newborn Payton, who was born on October 25, 2016. The Young’s reside in Berwyn, Pa.

During her four years on the lacrosse team, the Tigers made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, in 2000 playing in the national championship game and in 2001 the national semifinals game. She was a three-time IWLCA All America, 4-time All-Ivy selection winner, and named Ivy League Rookie of the Year. During her senior year, she was named a top five finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, which is annually awarded to the most outstanding Ameri- can player. Following her time as a student athlete, Young played for the USA Women’s Lacrosse Na- tional Team from 2001-2004 while also being an assistant coach at the University of Penn- sylvania starting in 2003. During her six years at Penn, Young assist- ed head coach Karin Brower and helped the team to five consecutive winning seasons. During the 2007 season the team made it to the semifinals and in 2008 the national cham- pionship game in the NCAA Tournament. Young coached seven All-Americans during her time at Penn and helped coach the team to back-to-back undefeated seasons in the Ivy League. In 2008, Young took her first head coaching position at Haverford College, after her first season she was named Centennial Confer- ence Coach of the Year (2009). The following two seasons she led the team to the pro- gram’s first conference tournament. In 2010, the team set the highest single season win total in program history with 13. For the first time in 11 years during the 2011 season one of Young’s players was named to the IWLCA All-American team. Young moved down the road to in 2012 to take over as the head coach for the women’s la- crosse program. During her four complete seasons as a Wildcat Young has built the program into BIG EAST Tour- nament contenders. Young is also active in the local lacrosse community. She is the founder of the Philly Blast Lacrosse Club and the co-director of the BaggataGirls. She was also a founding member the Philly Women’s Lacrosse League, which gives the opportunity for post-collegiate player to continue to play lacrosse.

VILLANOVA.COM @NOVAWLAX 7 # 2018 VILLANOVA WILDCATS WOMEN’S LACROSSE Jackie Cifarelli enters her first season as an Assistant Coach of the Villanova Women's Lacrosse team in 2018. A 2015 graduate from the Ohio State University, Cifarelli was a stand- out player in her time playing collegiate lacrosse.

The Rockville Centre, N.Y. native set the school record for assists and also finished second all-time in points. Her 179 assists places her at third best in NCAA Division-I history.

Other awards that Cifarelli collected during her time in Columbus, Ohio include a three-time Intercollegiate Women's Jackie Cifarelli Lacrosse Coaches' Association Regional All-American selec- Assistant Coach First Season tion and a two-time American Lacrosse Conference All-Con- Ohio State '15 ference Team selection. She was also a two-time nominee for the Tewaaraton Award, which is given to the most outstanding men's and women's NCAA Lacrosse players each year.

When Ohio State moved to the Big Ten, Cifarelli was honored to the inaugural 2015 All-Big Ten Conference team and the 2015 All-Big Ten Tournament team. Her Ohio State Buckeyes teams reached the NCAA Tournament in both her junior and senior seasons.

Her junior season she started in all 20 games for the Buckeyes. She tallied a team- high in both assists with 46 and points with 63. She also added 17 goals. In her senior campaign she led Ohio State in assists and points again with 54 and 72, respectively and added 18 goals to her totals.

Following graduation, she began her coaching career joining 's staff in 2015. In her first season as an assistant coach, Cifarelli helped the Dragons to a 10-7 record and a trip to the CAA Tournament. She specialized in offensive gameplan- ning, helping the Dragons increase their goals per game, assists per game and draw controls per game in her two years as an assistant. She also played a key role in help- ing two Drexel players reach First Team All-CAA seletions.

She graduated the Ohio State University with a degree in sociology. In 2014, she earned the Student Athlete Academic Achievement Award from the University.

Halle Majorana enters her first season as an Assistant Coach of the Villanova Women's Lacrosse team in 2018. Graduating from Syracuse Unviersity in 2016, Majorana had a very successful collegiate lacrosse career.

After starting her playing career at the University of Mary- land, she transferred to Syracuse University where she excelled. In her first year with the program, she played a key role in a team that won the 2015 Atlantic Coast Confer- ence Championship and made it to the NCAA Tournament Semi-Finals. Her performance that season earned her All- ACC Tournament team, First Team All-ACC and First Team Halle Majorana Assistant Coach All-Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association First Season All-American honors. In 2016, Majorana was nominated on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, given to the most outstanding men's and women's lacrosse players every year. Her success on the field earned her All-Northeast Region First Team, First Team All-ACC and Second Team IWLCA All-American. The Orange returned to the NCAA Tournament Semi-Finals in her senior campaign as well.

Her junior season she started in all 24 games for Syracuse. She was second on the team in goals with 55 and first on the team in assists with 36, tying for a team-high 91 points on the season. In her senior season she scored 45 goals and had 34 as- sists for a total of 79 points, second most on the team.

Following graduation, Majorana continued her playing career as a member of the semi-professional Long Island Sound. She helped lead the Sound to the Inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League Championship. Along with playing semi-profes- sionally, Majorana also worked as a volunteer coach on the Syracuse coaching staff. She worked specifically with offensive gameplanning and player development, but also worked with their social media and helped organize and run camps and clinics.

She graduated Syracuse University with a degree in Child Family Studies. She was a three year member of the All-ACC Academic team from 2014-2016.

Villanova Stadium has been the home for Villanova Women's Lacrosse since it's inaugural season as a uni- versity sponsored sport in 1991. The stadium was offically dedicated on October 8, 1927 and has been the home of Wildcat football, lacrosse, and track and field for the the last 89 years.

Over the years, Villanova Stadium has received several different renovations. Orignally seating 5,500 speca- tors, the first expansion saw concrete stands on the north side added an additional 6,500 seats to the venue. Villanova Stadium INFO The original grass playing surface was replaced in 1980 after a $1.3 million renovation saw the installation of AstroTurf field and an eight-lane Rebaturf OPENED: 1927 400-meter track. A few months later, six 100-foot light towers were installed SURFACE: FieldTurf for night time use. CAPACITY: 12,000 TENANTS: VU football, M/W In the second year of the women's lacrosse program, Villanova Stadium lacrosse, and track and field saw another upgrade, as Astroturf-8 surface was installed in the fall of 1992 following a $1.25 million project. As the years went by, additional new sura- ces were installed. The current FieldTurf duraspine pro synthetic turf field was installed in 2011.

In 1999, the Stadium underwent a face-lift with the Stadium Renovation Project, which included a state of the art press box with with a facility for both print and radio media to use.

Villanova Stadium will host the 2017 BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Tournament and the 2017 BIG EAST Track and Field Championships.
