WVBBTS/SEF Vision, PHILOSOPHY & CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE

Vision: To be the best snowsports training and competition organization in the by fielding the most successful competitors at local, regional and national team levels, and by giving young athletes the strong values and rich experiences that will guide them in their adult lives.

Philosophy: To create an atmosphere that cultivates the full potential of each student-athlete by combining the best in cutting-edge technology and safety measures with the finest individualized attention on the snow and in the classroom. WVBBTS Snowsports Educational Foundation is an outcomes-based nonprofit. Young children, who instinctively know it’s fun to slide around on snow, join our program as Mitey Mites. They progress into intermediate levels of competitive Alpine, Freeride / Freestyle, or . Through the Burdenko Method and USSA’s training guidelines they develop into fit, toned competitors with the physical and mental skills needed to accomplish exceptional athletic feats. As teenagers, they attend Waterville Valley Academy with its flagship program, the Pinnacle High School, and are prepared to succeed in whatever fields spark their interest. In short, those “children” become the leaders of tomorrow, from the Olympics to Wall Street and from major corporations to hometown clubs, our Club and Academy graduates will shape their world through grit, determination, perseverance and the ability to learn from and move beyond failure into success. Chairman’s Message New England is a fabulous place to live, work and play but the weather is unpredictable to say the least! Please join me, and my fellow Board members, in supporting the snowsports we all love. After all what is more important to racers, riders and boarders than snow! This exciting fan gun initiative will give us snow when Mother Nature is being stingy and help keep our kids at home enjoying great early season coverage. Thank you!

Our athletes need more reliable venues at the mountain for optimal training. The goal is to address this clear need via:

➤ Partnering with WV Resort on development of infrastructure for

➤ 5-year leasing agreements on state-of-the art fan guns

➤ An agreement with WV Resort delineating earlier, marginal temps snowmaking

➤ Venue coverage areas include: World Cup and Lower Sell’s

Currently, many of our athletes travel out west, and that’s expensive, or ski here on slim snow cover in the critical early season training period.

The Answer: WVBBTS dedicated snowmaking on our major trails at the mountain that will enable your athletes to get the most out of training with our world-class coaches while staying local. CEO MESSAGE

Since 2009, WVBBTS/SEF athletes have benefitted greatly from capital construction at our Snow’s Mountain Campus – the new classroom building, Phil’s Hill and this year the new Thomas Barbeau Training Center. The Snowmaking Initiative represents a whole new level of benefit for athletes and marks a widening of our influence in the Valley. Until this year, athletes working with Tom Barbeau in the Burdenko Method or with Dan Shuffleton or Wes Preston on Freeride/Freestyle, were relying heavily on third-party delivery. Now they have a dedicated space to train that is snow- sports specific and can be scheduled in an optimal way with regard to academics. Our goal is to keep athletes local, train them on great snow earlier and do those things more cost effectively and energy efficiently. I’ve made my pledge and look forward to seeing those fan guns blowing very soon! Please consider how you can participate in this campaign for snow to benefit our athletes! Many Thanks,

Quotes

Tim Smith, Director of Mountain Operations for had this to say: “This fan gun project on world cup is a win, win ... win, win. First, BBTS wins by getting better quality snow early in the season on primary training terrain, the resort gets a win by having the capability to producing snow more efficiently and distributing it more effectively. The second win, win could be the affect on the greater good. Fans have lower carbon footprints than traditional snowmaking so the environment wins. In turn when the environment wins we all win. You could also count the second win, win as the fact that these guns will transform water into snow at a lower cost per gallon. Lower cost is a win for the resort, in turn helping keep ticket prices down, a win for the consumer. Any way you slice it, this project is a winner and we are extremely excited to be collaborating with BBTS. I’m definitely looking forward to blowing white gold on World Cup in just a few short months.” snow guns: an athlete’s best friend

What’s more important than snow? Our athletes know that no snow is no problem when you’ve got great fan guns blowing. And the giant TF-10 plus six smaller T-40 TechnoAlpin fan guns pack a seriously powerful punch. Getting on good snow, with a deeper base, as early as possible equals a competitive edge for alpine racers, freeride/freestyle and snowboarders.

TechnoAlpin, energy efficient and intelligent fan guns can conquer the challenges of unpredictable weather early in the season. Marginal temperatures and temperature reversals can undermine snowmaking. The TF10 was developed to help solve this specific issue. Smart guns, able to feed info to resort employees, pinpoint which slopes are ready to have the fan guns fired up to get dedicated athletes training, acquiring skills and ready to compete.
