PUBLIC RELATIONS DEPT 'Jkmgstott, (©klaljoma The Langston Letter is published each Thursday primarily for the interest of the Langston University May 12-19, 1967 Faculty, Staff, and Students MAY 12 Departmental Meetings will be held at 10:00 a. m. MAY 13 General Faculty Meeting will be held at 9:00 a. m. All Sports Banquet. The banquet will be held at 7:30 p. m. in the Student Union - Dining Hall. Guest speaker for the occasion will be Mr. C. D. Batchlor, retired Registrar and Professor of English of the University. MAY 14 Morning Meditations. Worship services are scheduled for ten o'clock in the Auditorium, Speaker for Morning Meditations will be Dr. Jno Coleman, University Chaplin. Residence Hall Program. The Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. John Smith, will be presented in Concert, Sunday afternoon, at two o'clock. Sanford Hall will sponsor the event, which will be held in Sanford Hall Lounge. Concert. One of the University's excellent musical organizations, The Langston University Band will present a concert in the I. W. Young Auditorium at 2:00 p. m. Under the direction of Mr. Julian Northington. Everyone is invited to attend. Movie. The Sunday Movie, "Harper", will be shown at 5:30 p. m. Graduating Seniors. A reception honoring the graduating seniors will be given by President and Mrs. William H. Hale in the Ballroom of the William H. Hale Student Union Building from 4:00 p. m. to 5:30 p. m. MAY 15 Honors Day Convocation. The convocation will be held at 2:00 p. m. in the I. W. Young Auditorium. Guest speaker for the occasion will be the Honorable Clem McSpadden, President Protempore, Oklahoma State Senate. Immediately following will be a reception in the Ball room of the Student Union Building. During the Convocation, Langston University students will be honored for their outstanding academic performance. Each honoree has a cumulative grade point average of 3:00 (B) or above. Recognition will be given to (1) members of academic honor societies; Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society, Sigma Rho Sigma Social Science Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education and Alpha Kappa Mu (Scholarship) Honor Society, Beta Kappa Chi Honor Society, Alpha Chi National Honor Society; (2) students selected for Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges; (3) the highest ranking student in the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes; (4) students with highest academic averages in each department, and (5) members of the President's Honor Cabinet - Students who earned 4:00 (A) averages for the first semester of 1966-1967. OVER MAY 15 Retiring Personnel. The annual dinner for retiring personnel will be held in theBallroom of the Student Union Building at 8:00 p. m. honoring Mrs. M. C. Allen who is retiring from teaching after forty-one years of service. MAY 16 Laboratory School. A RARE TREAT WILL BE MISSED! Round Up on The Moon, A Western Operetta given by the Langston Laboratory School in the I. W. Young Auditorium at 7:00 p. m. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. The Langston University Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will present a benefit musical entitled "A Jazz Coloring Book," The Program will began at 8:30 p. m. in the I. W. Young Auditorium. Admission: Students $.25, Adults $.50 Alpha Kappa Mu. Alpha Kappa Mu Honor society is sponsoring a student forum, "Extremist Groups" will be discussed such as the "Beatniks," "The Hippies," "Hell's Angeles," and etc. Everyone is invited to attend, Refreshments will be served. MAY 17 Final examinations for Langston University Students will be held May 17-23. Movie. The Wednesday movie, "Billie" will be shown at 7:00 p. m. .
