Diocesan Ministry Educator role The Diocese of Dunedin is looking for a Ministry Educator. This exciting and challenging full time role covers the Dunedin Diocese throughout Otago and Southland. It involves being part of a team seeking to equip our Clergy -Parishes to develop, grow and sustain effective faith communities in a rapidly changing social environment. Are you: Growing in your own faith and committed to strengthening the faith of others? Someone with excellent communication and networking skills, used to getting along side others and helping them reach their full potential? Experienced in being able to plan and deliver theological and pastoral education to a wide variety of people and groups? Self-motivated and able to design and plan education programmes that enable our faith communities to “…read the Bible, pray and live out the life of Jesus Christ”? Committed to your own theological and spiritual development - a learner as well as a teacher? A broad thinker, able to see the bigger picture and discern where God is leading? We are looking for someone that we can explore together if this is the direction God is calling you. You must have a background of sound theological training and preferably be ordained and in good standing with the Anglican Church, but we will consider an appropriately skilled layperson. You must be committed to the Anglican Church in NZ - Aotearoa, including partnership with Tikanga Maori and Tikanga Pasefika. The Bishop of Waikato and Taranaki is seeking a fulltime Vicar for the Anglican Parish of St John’s, Te Awamutu. Te Awamutu is a vibrant rural town in the historic Waipa region of Waikato. The Parish consists of four churches distributed across three sites (Te Awamu-tu, Pirongia, and Hairini). Our desire is to discern a Vicar who can lead us in prayer, form us as disciples, and connect us to our communities. We need a Shepherd who can lead, dele-gate, and empower our strong team of lay and ordained ministers. We are looking for someone with a clear call to mission and relationship- building. Following a comprehensive review Te Manawa o Te Wheke is now re-shaping itself for innovative, high quality and exciting mission and ministry initiatives. This role is crucial in the leadership of the Hui Amorangi and will report directly to the Bishop. The role demands a high level of initiative and innovation as we seek to do new ministries for the Kingdom of God. William Alfred Robertson Fitchett (6 February 1872 – 15 August 1952) was the Bishop of Dunedin from 1934 to 1952.[1][2] Fitchett was born in Christchurch and his father was the Very Reverend Alfred Robertson Fitchett CMG of Dunedin. He was educated at Otago Boys' High School and Selwyn College, Cambridge.[3][4] Ordained in 1901,[5] he was curate then priest in charge of St Thomas' Wellington before being vicar of Dunstan and Roslyn. In 1915 he became the Archdeacon of Dunedin, a post he held for 19 years before being appointed its Bishop.[6] Fitchett was awarded the King George V Silver Jubilee Medal in 1935.[7] Anglo-Catholic Hui Reminder for Clergy All Priests of the Diocese are invited to concelebrate the Opening Mass of the Hui with Bishop Steven, Thursday 9 August, 6pm Opening Mass @ All Saints’ Dunedin.
