Meeting with Historic Places Trust The Diocesan Registrar Andrew Metcalfe is joining a teleconference with Andrew Coleman, chief executive of Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga on 13th August.
This is the result of an initial meeting with the InterChurch Bureau (ICB) . Andrew Coleman offered to meet with a smaller sub group from other religious organisations who were experiencing difficulties with heritage properties. The ICB has decided to establish a subgroup comprising those members with a considerable number of historic properties, which essentially meant the Anglicans, Catholics, Methodists and Presbyterians. If you want to pass on any information, concerns or anything else that you have been grappling with to Andrew Metcalfe, we will use these as examples of some of the issues that we are facing. This year’s theme ‘Overflow’ centres on how God fills us with His love, hope and power. It focuses on how our relationship with Jesus causes us to overflow with who He is, so that our local communities are impacted by the Gospel. The key verse we are exploring is ‘The mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart’ (Luke 6:45).
Our speakers are really going to bring it this year! We have Merrilyn Withers, an absolute legend in youth ministry, who has a special gift in helping youth workers to minister from a place of health, and Dion Fasi, a well-respected youth pastor, who offers practical tools for outworking The Great Commission in local settings. We also have Hope and Eugene Fuimaono, leading us in an incredible time of worship. This is undoubtedly going to be a weekend of encouragement and equipping. Find out more about our speakers here.
We really look forward to seeing you there!

A prayer for our Diocese
O Lord, who has not stopped forming us since the hour of our beginning;
Who has come among us to save us from ourselves and to teach us to love;
Who dwells beside us and within us and below us and above us,
Give us the grace to think again. May we know the joy of true discipleship;
May our relationships with you and with each other be real and deep;
May we have the courage to give our best for the least. In the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.
