The introduction of the Conference format was a necessity when we expanded into South Africa, but one of the knock-on benefits was the expansion of the Guinness PRO14 Final Series which means that more teams have more to play for. In Conference A right now, everyone from Munster down to Cardi Blues will feel confident they can join Glasgow Warriors in reaching the knock-out stages. It’s been another terrific start to the season for the Warriors under Dave Rennie who has his entire squad playing o the same hymn sheet.

The team dominated all aspects of the final match, and converted almost every opportunity into points to ultimately be crowned the 2016 Currie Cup champions. The Free State Cheetahs have won all 8 of the round robin matches and have earned a 4 try bonus point in 7 of the 8 round robin matches – the only match where they did not score 4 tries or more was against the Western Province in Cape Town.
