The Newman Society promotes the Catholic Faith in the University of . In 1878, Oxford’s Catholics established the Society as a means of renewing the Church’s life in the University. Due to current restrictions, we are unable to meet in person, so talks are broadcast live on our YouTube channel at 8pm, with weekly guest speakers who cover a wide range of topics over the course of the term. After the talk, Adoration, Benediction and Compline is livestreamed from the University Chaplaincy, and a Zoom social follows. All members of the University are welcome, Catholic or not!

N.B. The current roadmap for easing restrictions indicates that, from 4th week, we will be able to meet in person again. Evenings will begin with a free home-cooked meal at 7pm, in the Newman Room at the Chaplaincy, keeping to the ‘rule of six’, continuing with the talk at the usual time of 8pm. The Committee are monitoring the situation carefully and look forward to returning to in-person operations as soon as it is safe to do so.
