BY THE EXAMINER STAFF

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report a front seat passenger was claimed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of state routes 235 and 47. Mary Velazco, 59, of Sidney was entrapped in a sport utility vehicle in the 4:43 p.m. crash. She was removed by non-mechanical means, and then live saving measures were started, deputies report. She was transported by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:37 p.m. Deputies report she was a passenger in the westbound SUV oper- ated by Laura Velazco, 34, of Sidney. The driver reportedly pulled SEE RELATED from the stop sign into the path of a southbound pickup operated by STORY ON Jeff Watkins, 53, of Sidney, that was pulling a trailer loaded with an NEXT PAGE asphalt sealing machine. A rear passenger in the SUV, Jason Arnett, 42, of Sidney, was transported by Rosewood squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of injuries. Watkins was treated at the scene by Miami Township EMS personnel. The Holland Theatre’s curtain will rise this evening with legendary singer-songwriter Judy Collins, the first ticketed show for the theater this year following a $1.6 million ren- ovation and restoration project. Following in Collins’ footsteps, another superstar will be performing at the historic theater in December, as theater representatives announced this week that five-time Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter-producer CeeLo Green will present a concert for his Holiday Hits Tour at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, putting his creative spin on favorite Christmas songs. The social media announcements and other online concert details released by the theater this week have elicited an enthusiastic response by local residents, Holland Theatre managing director Chris Westhoff said.
