Clarion June 2018 Revised The Cleobury Clarion SERVING CLEOBURY COUNTRY June 2018 NEW FACE AT THE TOP CLEOBURY ON SHOW Last summer the town put on a new event, designed to show off some of the talents and traditions of the place. It was a brave idea, with some doubts about its feasibility, and it worked. The town buzzed with people finding places previously overlooked, talents they knew little or nothing about. It was something of an awakening. This year it carries a new title, the Cleobury Festival, and plans have been worked on from long before the event, which will happen on Saturday the 23rd, with most of the attractions open from 11.00 in the morning. The exception is Mawley Town Farm, where the gates open at 12.00 noon and a bus will carry visitors to and from the town centre up to 2.45. Like all big events, some of the details won’t be agreed until late in the preparation. So our guide on Page 57 is just that, a guide and not a full plan because not everything was known when we went to press.     Jan 28, 2016 08:54 GMT Superfast Worcestershire announces next communities to benefit from superfast broadband roll-out Superfast Worcestershire, the partnership between Worcestershire County Council and BT spearheading the fibre broadband roll-out, today announced the parts of the county to benefit first from major expansion plans. More than 8,000 additional households and businesses across Worcestershire will get access to the technology as a result of the multi-million pound ‘Superfast Extension Programme’. It will enable people in Arley, Cotheridge and Spetchley to access faster fibre broadband for the first time. The expansion will also make the new technology more widely available in communities, which already have some fibre broadband. The new programme will start to ‘go live’ in these communities from the Summer, following the completion of the first phase of the Superfast Worcestershire Programme, which is making faster fibre broadband available to around 60,000 premises in the county. The expansion programme will be finished by Autumn 2017, taking the percentage of county households and businesses able to access the technology to 95 per cent. This has been made possible due to additional investment of £6.2 million, comprising £2.39 million each from the Government’s Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) programme and the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership - through the Government’s Growth Deal - and £1.42m from BT bringing the entire Superfast Worcestershire programme to approximately £28 million.

    9 December 2016 NOTICE TO PARENTS/CARERS SCHOOL ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS 2018/19 Shropshire Council, as admission authority for community and controlled schools in Shropshire, is conducting a consultation exercise on School Admission Arrangements for 2018/19. The Council is simultaneously co-ordinating a consultation exercise for own admission authority schools, such as academies, whose governing bodies are responsible for setting their admission arrangements and who wish to make changes to those arrangements. We wish to notify all parents/carers that the consultation will begin on Friday 16 December for a period of 6 weeks up until 27 January 2017. In summary the proposed changes are as follows: To amalgamate the designated catchment area of Hope CE Primary School, Worthen CE Primary School and St Mary’s CE Primary School Westbury subject to consolidation of provision onto the current Worthen CE Primary School site. Minor changes to the designated catchment area at secondary transfer to align with the primary designated catchment area. This will affect a small number of residents located at Hope Bagot, Hemford and Roughton. Each resident potentially affected will also be consulted individually. St Giles CE Primary School in Shrewsbury has proposed a slight reduction in their Published Admission Number from 46 to 45 to enable better class organisation.
