Field entries will NOT be accepted. No refunds. 2. AGE: Applies to the date of competition. Competitors may be requested to furnish proof of age. Competitors may enter only in events to which his/her age applies and in the correct classification (eg.Beginner). Please refer to the Scotland Official Board of Highland Dancing rules. 3. Competitors must have a ScotDance/SOBHD Card. All dancers must present their ScotDance card prior to dancing. No card at the competition will result in a $5.00 penalty fee and awards (including stamping of card) will be withheld until card is presented to competition chair, for up to a maximum of 10 days. At which time the competitor’s name and number will be passed to the SOBHD registration unit, who may advise all organizers not to accept an entry from the competitor until such matters are satisfactorily cleared up. 4. Dancers must comply with SOBHD conduct. Failure to do so will result in the dancer being reported to the SOBHD. 5. Saskatchewan dancers must belong to their local association or pay $12.00 per dance. 6. Classes will be divided after the closing date for entries at the discretion of the Competition Chairperson. Three competitors constitute a class, however, should there be a single entry where classes cannot be combined, the competitor will be judged. All other classes will be divided according to entries received after the closing date at the discretion of the Competition Committee. 7. All status changes must be sent or phoned immediately to the Competition Chairperson. NO CHANGES allowed on competition day. 8. COMPETITORS: must be suitably attired; must be on hand to dance when their event is called or forfeit the right to dance in that event; last to enter - first to dance; must not wear or display medals until after the competition; must be in FULL COSTUME to receive medals. 9. Communication with a judge concerning a competitor will result in disqualification of that competitor. Any protests must be in writing and handed to the Competition Chairperson prior to the end of the competition and accompanied by a protest fee of $15.00. Decision of the Judges will be final. 10. Medals and trophies will be awarded. There is no trophy for the Primary Class. The scoring system of the Scotland Official Board of Highland Dancing will be in effect; 137, 91, 71, 53, 37, 23. 11. Awards presented using the scale of half plus one (Maximum 8 awards). Examples, in the case of 8 dancers for example 5 awards will be given. In the situation where there are 9 dancers, 5 awards will be presented. 12. SHDA Broadsword Special Event will be awarded CASH for the top three groups only. Amounts in the following: Each member of the first-place group will be awarded $20. Second-place group members will each receive $15.00. Each member of the third-place team will be awarded $10.00. Broadsword groupings will be randomly selected after all the entries have been submitted. If there is an odd number to create groups of 4 – then some dancers will be randomly drawn to dance twice. 13. For 16 and Over Premier events, cash prizes will be awarded in the following amounts, for each dance: 1st= $30, 2nd= $25, 3rd= $15, 4th- 6th= $10 14. Your receipt from Eventry.com will serve as email confirmation. No further confirmation will be sent. 15. All Dancers with a valid membership in their Local Highland Dancing Association will pay $6/dance. All dancers without a local Membership will pay $12/dance.     Tunes 2001: 65 tunes from Laura Risk Extended liner notes Note: these liner notes were written in 2001, when cassette tapes were still in everyday use! After making (at a rough count) close to a hundred copies of various repertoire tapes for my students over the last few years, only to find that the tapes were plagued with distortion and would often play back at the wrong pitch, I decided to join the Information Age and make these CDs. How did I choose these particular tunes? This is a teaching CD, so I picked the tunes I like to teach. These tunes are memorable, fun to learn, fun to play, and for the most part, well- known in the greater world of fiddling. Many of them offer a particular technical or stylistic challenge. Many of them are particularly well-suited to beginning-level fidders. On these CDs, I play each tune fast and then slow (unless it's a slow air -- then I just play it slow). These CDs are meant to be used in conjunction with private or group lessons, so I haven't provided much commentary. Here's an example of what you'll find in these notes: 5-6 Soldier's Joy 5-6 means that this tune, Soldier's Joy, is on tracks 5-6 of the CD. On track 5, I play the tune at tempo. On track 6, I play it slow. D major reel; Shetland/Scotland/New England 'D major reel' means that this tune is a reel in the key of D major.

Described by Folk Radio UK as "astonishing", she is known for her versatile sound, which combines deep roots in Gaelic tradition with a distinctive improvising voice and honed classical technique. Màiri tours regularly throughout the UK, Europe and in North America. Recent highlights include performances at major festivals and events including the Cambridge Folk Festival, Fairport's Cropredy Convention, Hillside Festival (Canada), WGBH's St Patrick's Day Celtic Sojourn, Celtic Connections, and Encuentro Internacional Maestros del Arpa, Bogota, Colombia. Màiri can currently be heard regularly in duo with US fiddler Jenna Moynihan, progressive-folk Toronto group Aerialists, with her sister Brìghde Chaimbeul, and with legendary violinist Darol Anger & the Furies. She is featured in series 2 of Julie Fowlis and Muireann NicAmhlaoibh's BBC Alba/TG4 television show, Port. Màiri was twice- nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award, finalist in the BBC Young Traditional & Jazz Musicians of the year and twice participated in Savannah Music Festival's prestigious Acoustic Music Seminar. She started playing the harp at the age of fourteen.
