Nick Sepi, creator of the Stencilsmith gaming app for iPhone and iPad, used London Public Library’s Lynda.com service to teach himself the computer programming skills he needed to become a game developer.

returned to London with my wife and son in 2015 and we I have been using the Library regularly since. Feels like a lot longer though! Because we’re there so often! My wife and two-year-old love to borrow books and CDs.

I also make good use of the Library’s online services. The last time I had a subscription to Lynda.com it cost about $25 USD per month, or more depending upon the subscription plan you chose.

After we moved into our home we started going to the Sherwood Branch Library. One day I saw a poster for Lynda.com and when the librarian told me that my library card would let me access the site for free, I honestly almost couldn’t believe it.

The huge range of subject matter that is taught on Lynda.com is really awesome. You can watch videos on something as basic as how to use Twitter, or courses as advanced as gaining a commanding knowledge of an industry-standard program like Photoshop, or learn about marketing products around the world.

A few years ago I decided that I wanted to learn how to create use the service and continue my education any time I want. apps for the iPhone and iPad but didn’t want to spend the time or money going back to college. I think no matter what stage of life you’re at, the Library has something for you. When you’re younger, you need a place to study. When you’re older and looking for a hobby or wanting to expand your horizons, the Library is great for that. When you have kids, you can find movies and books for them.

The town I grew up in had a great library system. I remember dozens of things I did at that library over the years. The more I think about it, the longer the list gets. Now that I live here in London, I look forward to watching my children take advantage of all the LPL system has to offer them as they grow up. BE A STAR WITH THE #GIFNTAKE APRIL 3–22 CENTRAL LIBRARY
