KING D’ONOFRIO UNVEILED Out of the dribbling pipe of Daredevil info comes, at last, a pic of the evil Kingpin! Played by Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Men in Black, The Cell), Kingpin is oe of the most feared honchos in the Marvel universe, blessed with a gifted criminal mind, insanely adroit hand-to-hand combat skills (despite his heavy frame), and last but not least, a gazillion dollars. He developed his impressive fi ghting expertise after being bullied as a child for his obesity, and as an adult, he’s one of Daredevil’s most formidable and capable foes. We think D’Onofrio is absolutely spot-on for the character! DiCAPRIO IN SCHIZOPHRENIC BIOPIC We moviegoers have been obsessed with multiple personality disorder for decades, even if Charlie Kaufman from Adaptation reckons it’s the number one most overused idea in fi lm screenplays ever (apparently the second most overused is serial killers). Now Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to produce and star in a fi lm about the fi rst man who ever used the disorder as a successful legal defence, in the upcoming biopic The Crowded Room. It’s based on an early ‘80s biography about Billy Milligan, who was arrested for rape, armed robbery and a string of other felonies and went to trial in the late ‘70s. His psychologist diagnosed him with MPD, asserting that Billy had 24 different personalities. We don’t care what Kaufman says – we’re excited about this one. If you want your mind warped in a different fashion this month, we highly recommend sci-fi thriller Interstellar – you can fi nd our review on page 15. 4 TKE18_04-08_NewsReel.indd 4 16/03/2015 4:32 pm &A X NIMH’S SECOND SECRET THE MOST POPULAR RENTAL TITLES ACROSS AUSTRALIA It’s certainly the age of sequels Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, prowl the fi elds. She’s to play the titular character, 7 TOMBSTONES named Amy, who is an actual supernatural ‘guardian angel’ to a THE JUDGE young woman named Allison (who 8 has not yet been cast). As far as we can guess, Amy will likely take on the jobs of ‘little angel’ and ‘little devil’ 9 BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP on Allison’s shoulders, and won’t she just be perfect at it? I’d take her ruthless, contradictory advice any day. 10 HUNDRED FOOT JOURNEY 5 TKE18_04-08_NewsReel.indd 5 16/03/2015 3:31 pm hotnewreleases 1st APR 1st APR 8th APR 9th APR 9th APR 15th APR 15th APR 15th APR 22nd APR 22nd APR 29th APR 29th APR TAKE A MOVIE STAR HOME TONIGHT Untitled-9 8 17/03/15 5:06 PM BLOMKAMP NEWSREEL REVEALS MORE FOR ALIEN 5 Neill Blomkamp, the South African sci-fi visionary whose herself has also weighed in on the way the fi lm may go: “I latest fl ick Chappie has just hit theatres this month, is ever so would love to take Ripley out of orbiting around in space, slowly revealing more details about his upcoming Alien movie. and give a proper fi nish to what was such an excellent story,” In press rounds for Chappie recently, Blomkamp indicated that she said in the same interview with Blomkamp.
