Jordan LEADING AFTER FIRST QUARTER 4-1 Holland and Maria Carvalho each scored 16 points to lead five Wolverines in double figures as they finished off the regular season sweep of UT Rio Grande Valley. Jensen announced her signing in November at the Castle Dale, Utah high school. Jensen has led her team to back-to-back appearances in the final game of the Utah State Tournament, including a state championship during her LOWER SHOOTING PERCENTAGE 2-6 junior season in 2017-18. Both years the 6-foot-3 forward was named tournament MVP. She averaged 17.1 points and 8.8 FEWER TURNOVERS 5-4 rebounds per game as a junior on her way to earning State 3A MVP honors. The Derek Hernandez Police Training Facility is named in honor of the Marine lance corporal who was born and raised in Edinburg and planned to pursue a career in law enforcement. The summer after graduating from Edinburg High School in 2008, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. “He was a very young man full of faith,” Anita Reyna, Hernandez’s aunt told The Rider. Reyna said that Hernandez told her before he was deployed that he was going to “leave a mark” in his hometown. Derek Hernandez After serving as a military policeman and infantryman for two years, Hernandez died on June 6, 2010, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, while supporting combat operations. He was 20 years old.
