The incident comes as France remains on high alert following a series of jihadist attacks that have claimed over 230 lives since January 2015. Prosecutors said they had opened an anti-terror investiga- tion. France goes to the polls on April 23 in the first round of a two-stage presidential election in which security is one of the main issues on voters’ minds. The shooting took place on the second day of an offi- cial visit to Paris by Britain’s Prince William and his wife Kate. Interior Minister Bruno Le Roux said the man who was killed was “known to the police and intelligence serv- ices”. He said the suspect was also linked to an attack on police just north of Paris earlier yesterday in which an offi- cer was slightly wounded. At the airport, the man knocked the soldier to the ground and grabbed at her rifle, a senior military source said.

Director of Communication/ OF SCHOOL Editor Laura Russell This school year may be the “winning-est” year I have witnessed at St. Mary’s. By winning, I don’t just mean in academic Photography Mike Brown, Lisa Buser, and athletic scores — although any parent or alumna would be proud to see these numbers. St. Mary’s is winning in Kathy Daniel Patterson ‘78, its mission, which includes educating the whole girl and preparing her for college and for life. Market research we Rainey Ray Segars ‘05 conducted in the fall among parents at other schools concluded that the three most commonly held views of St. Mary’s Contributors 8 Wendy Pritchartt Ansbro ‘79, students are their intelligence, kindness, and athleticism. This school year has borne out that reputation time and again.
