TRAINING & EDUCATION

2009- , London (doctoral studies) Commenced doctoral research in Liszt performance practice, continuing piano studies under Professor Christopher Elton. Awarded an Overseas Research Award from the Royal Academy of Music and a scholarship from the Tait Memorial Trust. Received academic prize at conclusion of first year of studies.

2007-2009 Royal Academy of Music, London (postgraduate) Completed Master of Music (Performance) degree with distinction. Studied with Professor Christopher Elton on full scholarship, with assistance from University of Travelling Scholarship. Participation in masterclasses and private coaching during this time with visiting artists including Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Pascal Devoyon, Boris Berman, Emanuel Krasovsky, Jirí Hlinka and Victor Rosenbaum.

2003-2006 Sydney Conservatorium of Music, The University of Sydney (undergraduate) Graduated with First Class Honours and the University Medal. Piano studies with Elizabeth Powell in Bachelor of Music (Performance) course, with full scholarship (Merit/Outstanding Academic Achievement – University of Sydney). Was on Dean’s List of Excellence, prizes also included the Dorothy Tyder- Phillipes Award, Frank Hutchens Memorial Scholarship, Kathleen and Allison Short Scholarship, Chapple Bremner Award and Jules Silvester Prize.

During this time also played in masterclasses and/or lessons for pianists including Stephen Hough, Yohaved Kaplinsky, Yonty Solomon, Mikhail Vorskresensky, Dmitri Alexeev, Paul Lewis, Larry Sitsky, John Owings, Tamas Ungar, Giovanni Belluci and Jose Feghali. Also received various scholarships to study abroad for brief periods; TCU/Cliburn Piano Institute (Fort Worth, USA) – Young Artist’s Program with scholarship (June 2004), two months study in London with scholarship from Big Brother Movement (Jan-Feb 2004).

PERFORMANCES

• Upcoming performances at Royal Academy of Music include a solo recital of Liszt’s piano music in 2012 Spring programme. Recent performances at the RAM include a recital of Liszt solo piano pieces and songs (June 2011), a solo recital featuring Liszt’s music on modern and historical instruments (April 2011), chamber performance of Chopin’s Piano Concerto no.1 (April 2011), solo performances in the Messiaen Festival held in conjunction with the Southbank Centre (October 2008) and Prokofiev Sonata Cycle (April 2008). • Upcoming solo recitals include: o Ripon Cathedral Concert Society (October 2011) o Sunderland Pianoforte Society (October 2011) o North Cumbria Recitals (October 2011) o Ashford Music Society (November 2011) o Letchworth Music Club (November 2011) o St Mary’s Aylesbury Music (November 2011) o Darlington Piano Society (December 2011) o Roseland Music Society (February 2012) o South Holland Concerts (March 2012). • Recent past solo recitals in United Kingdom include, in 2011, Witney Music Society, Boston Concert Club, Holmes Chapel Music Society, Bideford Music Club, Kidderminster Classical Music Society, St-Martin-in-the-Fields, Music at St Peter’s Wallingford, Hoylake Chamber Concert Society. Prior to this, in 2009-2010, concerts include those for St-Martin-in-the- Fields, Reading University, Cromer Music Evenings, Aylesbury, Chester Music Society, Windsor Parish Church, Notting Hill Community Church and the Blüthner Piano Centre. • Concerto performances with orchestras including the Melbourne and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras and Ku-Ring-Gai Philharmonic Orchestra (), Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (USA), Bacau Philharmonic Orchestra (Italy), and Finchley Chamber Orchestra and Guildford Symphony Orchestra (UK). • Various solo recitals in Australia (until 2007), and with broadcasts on national television and radio. • Also extensive chamber music experience (duos, trios, quintets); currently performing with clarinet in several recitals in the UK.

• 2010 Making Music Philip & Dorothy Green Award for Young Concert Artists. • 3rd Prize, 18th A.M.A. Calabria International Piano Competition (Italy). • 3rd Prize, Fourth International Piano Concerto Competition (Hastings Music Festival, UK). • Full entrance scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, and Myra Hess Scholarship (covering full fees) from Guildhall School of Music and Drama. • Winner 2006 John Allison Piano Scholarship (Australia). • 3rd, Chopin and Classical Sonata prizes Australian National Piano Award. • Keyboard winner 2003 Symphony Australia Young Performer’s Awards. • Winner of the Outstanding Performer Award and Ku-Ring-Gai Philharmonic Orchestra’s Choice Award in the 2002 NSW Secondary Schools Concerto Competition. • Special Prize, 2002 2MBS-FM Young Performer Award.
