Spotlighting Fast Food Calories
Covenant INSURANCE GROUP, INC. SPOTLIGHTING FAST FOOD CALORIES A 2010 report by the Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service states: “Most Americans eat too few fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, but also consume too much saturated fat, sodium, and added sugar. Americans spend a large share of their food budget (42%) on food away from home (FAFH), which has been found to be less nutritious than food prepared at home. For the average consumer, eating one meal away from home each week translates to about 2 extra pounds each year, which means that for the average adult, one additional meal eaten away from home increases daily intake by about 134 calories.” If you're curious about the nutritional value of items on your favorite fast food restaurant's menu, Google “Nutrition facts” plus restaurant name. 20Th October 2013
THE The Magazine Of Genesis Sci-Fi October 2013 The Magazine Of Genesis Sci-Fi September 2013 Hello, one and all, welcome back to Genesis. First of all, I would like to thank Paul Belsey for last Chairman: month’s programme, and it was so good to see some old Paul Russell favourites not seen in a long time. This month sees the return of Matt as programme editor and quiz master. Now, Vice Chairman this month I have already seen a copy of the programme; David Offen-James unlike last month; and know it is up to Matt’s usual high standard of illustrious innovation (We’re also showing the Treasurer: original Star Trek episode Spock’s Brain - Ed). The choices Matthew Greet for the film vote are somewhat different, but what else would we expect from Matt? Events Secretary: Paul Belsey Now I am “semi” retired, and by this I mean working longer and harder than I ever did when in full time Membership employment, it was with some surprise that I looked at Secretary: my calendar and noticed it was already October! Now of Louise Stanley cause this is probably not news to you, but I thought ‘oh my goodness, where has the year gone to?’ The drawing of Honorary President: the evenings, the fact that I am now going to work in the Jeremy Bulloch dark (often returning in the dark as well) could, of course been construed as clues, but as I have often remarked Website: before I can sometimes be ‘not the sharpest tool in the www.genesis-sf.org.uk box’. -

Gold Jewellery in Ptolemaic, Roman and Byzantine Egypt. Jack M
Gold Jewellery in Ptolemaic, Roman and Byzantine Egypt. Jack M. Ogden ABSTRACT This study deals with the gold jewellery made and worn in Egypt during the millennium between Alexander the Great's invasion of Egypt and the Arab conquest. Funerary jewellery is largely ignored as are ornaments in the traditional, older Egyptian styles. The work draws upon a wide variety of evidence, in particular the style, composition and construction of surviving jewellery, the many repre- sentations of jewellery in wear, such as funerary portraits, and the numerous literary references from the papyri and from Classical and early Christian writers. Egypt, during the period considered, has provided a greater wealth of such information than anywhere else in the ancient or medieval world and this allows a broadly based study of jewellery in a single ancient society. The individual chapters deal with a brief historical background; the information available from papyri and other literary sources; the sources, distribution, composition and value of gold; the origins and use of mineral and organic gem materials; the economic and social organisation of the goldsmiths' trade; and the individual jewellery types, their chronology, manufacture and significance. This last section is covered in four chapters which deal respectively with rings, earrings, necklets and pendants, and bracelets and armiets. These nine chapters are followed by a detailed bibliography and a list of the 511 illustrations. Gold Jewellery in Ptolemaic, Roman and Byzantine Egypt. In two volumes Volume 1 - Text. Jack M.
