The literature review is part of the research activities aimed in unravelling the authenticity of Negeri Sembilan traditional houses. The research methodology was qualitative. The research was proposed when Malaysia’s identity for booth design at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 was represented by Minangkabau identity, a community from the West Sumatra in Indonesia. A misconception emerged from PLVDSSUHKHQVLRQRIWKHKLVWRU\RI6RXWK(DVW$VLD7KH¿QGLQJVDUHDLPHG to clarify the facts and re-oriented the architectural interpretation within WKHORFDOFRQWH[WQRWPHDQWWRGHQ\WKH0LQDQJNDEDXLQÀXHQFHWKDWKDYH evolved together within the local communities. The Nara Document of Authenticity 1994, stated, heritage of all cultures and societies are rooted in the particular forms and means of tangible and intangible expression. Subsequently, our future communities’ LGHQWLW\ LV XQGHQLDEO\ UHÀHFWHG LQ RXU KHULWDJH HVSHFLDOO\ WKH EXLOW KHULWDJH PHDVXUHG DV D UHÀHFWLRQ RI WKH FRPPXQLW\¶V VRFLRFXOWXUDO identity. Placing in the Negeri Sembilan context, the prevalence of their architectural identity is dependent on the degree of understanding of both communities’ historical relationship. Within a scope of a single paper it is not possible to describe in detail the historical relationship between Negeri Sembilan and Minangkabau communities. The Biduanda clan is the original settlers or the local aborigines in Negeri Sembilan (Ibrahim, 1988; Gullick, 2003; Adil, 1981). Therefore only the male descendants from the female bloodline of the Biduanda clan can be appointed to be the Ruling Chief as in Figure 5. 5(6($5&+0(7+2'2/2*< The overall research methodology is qualitative. It should be stressed that these events had indirectly yield certain mistaken believe, especially in the architectural identity. Nonetheless this paper’s emphasis is towards the traditional architecture of Negeri Sembilan. )LJ7KHVLJQL¿FDQWKLVWRULFDOO\HYHQWWKDW\LHOGHGPLVFRQFHSWLRQVDERXW1HJHUL 6HPELODQFRPPXQLWLHVWKDWKDYHVLJQL¿FDQFHHIIHFWVWRWKHLUDUFKLWHFWXUDOLGHQWLW\ Hence the following chapters highlight the literatures in order to 117 resolve the misconceptions. The history books written by Gullick, Adil and Khoo clearly stated the aborigines were in Negeri Sembilan even during the Sriwijaya Kingdoms sovereignty. The ancestors of the people in Negeri Architecture Sembilan came from the Minangkabau region.” Note: (5) and (6) in the sentence refers to the diagram in the book. General Bennett, however, believing that he might soon be called upo n for assistance on the western front, had instituted on 19th December a series of reconnaissances along the line from Gemas to Muar . Frekuensi dan tempoh curahan hujan dianggap sebagai indeks penting bagi bidang geomorfologi, hidrologi dan kajian cerun. Di samping itu, maklumat tentang taburan hujan penting kepada manusia kerana boleh mempengaruhi pelbagai aktiviti manusia seperti pertanian, perikanan dan pelancongan. Oleh itu, kajian ini meneliti pola taburan dan tren hujan yang terdapat di Negeri Sembilan. Data hujan bulanan dan tahunan untuk tempoh 21 tahun (1983 – 2003) dibekalkan oleh Perkhidmatan Kajicuaca Malaysia (MMS) bagi lapan stesen kajiklim yang terdapat di seluruh negeri. Kaedah GIS Poligon Thiessen dan Kontur Isoyet digunakan bagi mengira dan menentukan pola taburan hujan manakala kaedah Ujian Mann-Kendall digunakan bagi mengesan pola perubahan tren dan variabiliti hujan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa berdasarkan kaedah Persentil dan Kontur Isoyet, pola taburan hujan di Negeri Sembilan boleh di kategorikan kepada dua jenis kawasan iaitu kawasan sederhana lembap (memanjang dari Jelebu -Kuala Pilah-Gemencheh) dan kawasan hujan lebat (sekitar kawasan pinggir pantai-Seremban- Chembong). Pola perubahan hujan didapati tidak tetap bagi kesemua stesen kajian bagi tempoh kajian ini. Berasaskan Ujian Mann-Kendall tahun 1980-an dan 1990-an menandakan tahun perubahan taburan hujan bagi kesemua stesen kajian yang boleh memberi kesan kepada kawasan tadahan dan seterusnya menentukan kadar bekalan air yang mencukupi.

A hospital-based case-control study of viral encephalitis was carried out at Port Dickson Hospital, in the state of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Between March and May 1999, 69 clinically diagnosed viral encephalitis cases and 31 controls were interviewed. Job histories on pig farming activities were assessed by a group of epidemiologists and veterinary surgeons. Results show that among clinical cases of viral encephalitis, 52 (75.4%) cases were diagnosed to have Nipah virus infection based on positive serology for antibodies to the cross-reacting Hendra virus antigen. The Nipah virus encephalitis was significantly associated with a history of working in pig farms (p < 0.001, OR = 196.0, 95% CI = 20.4 - 4741.6), history of contact with animals (p < 0.001, OR = 38.3, 95% CI = 8.2 - 209.0) and with history of direct contact with pigs (p = 0.002, OR = 34.4, 95% CI = 2.6 - 1,024.4). The Nipah virus infection was also significantly associated with history of feeding/cleaning pigs (p < 0.001, OR = 102, 95% CI = 11.9 - 2,271.5).

Its musical power rests only on the performance of the rhythmic patterns of the gendang and tasa , which are played simultaneously and in an impulsive manner. The music is loud, energetic, and played in an open arena, either in the form of a procession or in an outdoor performance. The goal of this article is to discuss the dominant role of gandang tasa in various traditional and religious ritual processions in the Minangkabau community. The research method is a case study which focuses on the presence of gandang tasa in various ritual processions. The research results show that the loud, energetic character of the music, and the musical power of the rhythmic patterns played by the gandang tasa have led this music to dominate traditional and religious ritual processions in Minangkabau. The Langkasukan ornamentation which embodies the surface articulation of artefacts enfolds the historical construction of its indigenous culture and ethnicity. With close embedded intention, the Langkasukan ornamentations signify the relationship and graphic expression based on national artistry, racial, creativity, technical skill and religious cultural properties. The Langkasukan motif, characterised by a spiral formulation derived from Hinduism–Buddhism is attributed through a process of modification and stylistic transformation by the artisans and craftsmen of the east coast of Malaysia. Through the web of influences from varied aesthetic sources generated through polity, migration, trade and commerce, a distinctive character in the composition of the patterns deem a rebirth of vernacular aesthetic principles contributing to an embracement of stylistic methodology, present to this day. The principles of Malay art decoded the hermeneutics adaptation and application. The paper attempts to present an analytical study of 100 Malay artefacts ranging from weaponry, woodcarving, puppetry and illuminated manuscripts. The studies would narrate the descriptive nature of the hybrid patterns and manifestations of the early 1800s, with the infusion of Islamic and the abstract norm of animism, Buddhist iconographic symbols overlapping with Hindu traditional motifs and a twist of local flavour.
