Press Release (Kochi) - 21 Jun 12 INS VENDURUTHY CELEBRATED 69TH ANNIVERSARY . Mayor of Kochi, Shri Tony Chammany, lighting the traditional lamp to mark the beginning of celebrations. Commodore and Mrs Ajaykumar are also seen INS Venduruthy, popularly known as Naval Base among locals at the coastal city of Kochi celebrated the 69th Anniversary of its existence today. Mayor of Kochi, Shri Tony Chammany was the Chief Guest at the celebrations held at Naval Base. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Mayor expressed his admiration for Indian Navy and said that the city of Kochi is proud of the Navy and its services to the nation. He also distributed the proficiency awards announced on the occasion of anniversary. Earlier, an anniversary cake was cut jointly by Commodore MR Ajaykumar, Commanding Officer, Deepak Chahar, the youngest sailor and Sreedevi, the youngest civilian employee. This was followed by a variety entertainment programme put up by the employees and the traditional community feast “Bada-khana”. Page 1 of 2 INS Venduruthy as the Depot Ship of Southern Naval Command flies the Flag of the Commander in Chief and was commissioned on 23rd June 1943 as 'Her Majesty Indian Ship (HMIS) Venduruthy'. The establishment which houses all the premier training schools of the Navy has a wide range of responsibilities ranging from security, to estate management of the 1000 acre Naval Base. Commanding Officer, INS Venduruthy as Naval Officer in Charge Kerala is also responsible for coastal security of the state of Kerala. 1 CADET’S HAND BOOK (NAVY) SPECIALISED SUBJECT 2 Preface 1. National Cadet Corps (NCC), came into existence, on 15 July 1948 under an Act of Parliament. Over the years, NCC has spread its activities and values, across the length and breadth of the country; in schools and colleges, in almost all the districts of India. It has attracted millions of young boys and girls, to the very ethos espoused by its motto, “unity and discipline” and molded them into disciplined and responsible citizens of the country. PREFACE Regulations for the Navy Part I Are Issued Under The
PREFACE Regulations for the Navy Part I are issued under the authority of the Government of India and supersede the corresponding provisions of the Regulations for the Navy Part I, 1965 (non-Statutory). These Regulations contain a comprehensive compilation of 44 Chapters on regulations of an administrative character. Flag Officers, Commanding Officers and all other Officers are responsible for ensuring that the Regulations contained in this volume are strictly adhered to by them and by all those serving under their Command. These Regulations, being non-Statutory, are supplemental to the relevant statutory provisions, wherever they exist, and do not supplant them. All officers are expected to interpret these Regulations with due regard to the customs and traditions of the Service. In these Regulations no attempt has been made to provide for obvious exceptions or for matters of detail, on which administrative and departmental orders/ instructions of authorities subordinate to the Government of India are either currently in force or may be issued in future. Such orders and instructions shall, however, be deemed supplementary to and in amplification of these Regulations. As such, if any of these orders/instructions are at variance to these Regulations, the latter shall prevail.
