ALBUMCHARLIE OF DANIELS THE MONTHBAND OFF THE GRID: DOIN’ IT DYLAN

The Charlie Daniels Band has been making music for a long time. An interesting fact; however, is that Charlie Daniels played guitar on the infamous Bob Dylan album, Nashville Skyline. On The Charlie Daniels Band’s new album, however, Daniels pays the favor back, as he records a tribute to Bob Dylan. The album opens with one of Dylan’s greatest songs, “Tangled Up In Blue.” The piano performance on this track is worth hearing in itself. Daniels puts his unique touch on each of the Dylan classics, creating an album that you must hear. To hear a classic cover a classic doesn’t happen very often, so seize the moment. Other great covers on this album include “The Times They Are A–Changing,” “I Shall Be Released” and “Just Like A Woman.” Daniels’ vision to put his Country touch on each of these is truly ingenious, as any of these songs could be on the radio today, even though they were written decades ago. It goes to show – great songs never die!

RHONDA VINCENT | ONLY ME

Rhonda Vincent has a new double-disc album out titled Only Me. Whether you are listening to Vincent sing Bluegrass or Country, you are in for a treat. The double disc album focuses one part on Bluegrass songs, while the second disc focuses on Country songs. The title track, which appears on the Bluegrass disc, is a great song. Only Me features the help of Willie Nelson, which is always special. This up-tempo song epitomizes Rhonda Vincent – her vocal is stunning, the musicianship is outstanding, and, when you add Willie Nelson, you have the recipe for a great record. Another standout on the Bluegrass album is the collaboration with Daryle Singletary, “We Must Have Been Out Of Our Minds.” This is yet another magical moment on the album. The Country disc is also exceptional. With standout songs like “Once A Day” and “Drivin’ Nails.” “Once A Day” was written by the clas- sic Country songwriter, Bill Anderson. Vincent proves she should have songs on the Country chart with this effort, as well. Vincent is an amazing and versatile artist. You should definitely check out the new album. RED ROOTS | TRIPLICITY

Inspirational Country group Red Roots has released its third studio album. The new album, Triplicity, combines Country, Acoustic and Pop influences to create its own unique sound. The triplets, who are from Wade, Mississippi, all have a unique voice, but, together, something really special happens. The production on the album is spot-on, as well. The first song on the album is the first single – “Seven Days.” The electric guitar-driven song reminds us that Jesus can handle anything in our lives. Another standout song on the album is “Beautiful,” which was written by the three girls and Sarah Peasall McGuffy. This highly-catchy song is very melodic and also very positive, which is a winning combination. Also, it’s worth noting the sister-influenced harmony. There is always something special when a family group sings together. These girls have a great future ahead of them. They can have success as Christian artists, Country artists, or both, which is a sign of a great group.

BRIAN FREE & ASSURANCE | UNASHAMED

Brian Free is best known for his wonderful tenor voice in the Southern Gospel world, but Brian Free & Assurance have a new album, Unashamed. The edgy, but slick production (the album was produced by Ricky Free) fits the vocals of these four guys amazingly well. The album kicks off with a great song, “God Of Possibilities,” which really sets the tone for the rest of the album. To hear the harmonies of these guys against a backdrop of modern production is really remarkable. For example, the second song on the album (and title track) “Unashamed” sounds like an absolute ‘homerun of a hit.’ Other songs to listen to on the album are “He Still Saves,” “One” and “Before The After.” The latter song is the last song on the album. This bouncy song has a great groove, a moving lyric and a vocal performance that sums up the unbelievable talent of this gospel group. This group is bound for more awards!
