Leisure Reading Suggestions: Science Fiction
Features of this genre: Science fiction is a facet of fiction is typically set in fantastic worlds and futuristic settings. These stories often include elements of science, technology, space travel, time travel, parallel universes, and alien life forms. They may explore the potential consequences of scientific innovations as well as politics, identity, desire, morality and social order. While it is typically based in science, the laws and theories governing these stories may be only partly true. These stories are split up into subgenre including: cross-genre, first contact, hard science fic- tion, near future, slipstream, space opera, and time travel.
