LOWER POTOMAC HISTORIC DISTRICTS CHESAPEAKE & OHIO CANAL HISTORIC DISTRICT (1828+) NR The 185-mile Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, built between 1828 and 1850, was an engineering marvel of its day. The canal improved the Historic American Building Survey county's economy, providing jobs, and transporting farm products, fertil- izer, and other goods. The C & O Canal was declared a national monu- ment in 1961, was designated on the National Register of Historic Places Lock House at Lock 10 and named a national historic park. The National Park Service owns and operates the C & O Canal National Historic Park, protecting significant architectural and engineering features as well as an impor- tant natural environment. Many of the structures in the National Register Historic District are described individu- ally in the following section. GARRETT PARK HISTORIC DISTRICT (1886) NR 30/13 In 1886, Washington, D.C. attorney Henry Copp formed the Metropolitan Investment and Building Company to develop a new commuter suburb. To cement its relation- ship with the railroad, the town was named Garrett Park, in honor of Robert Garrett, president of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. From its 500-acre parcel, Metropolitan Investment surveyed and platted lots from 3 acre to 5 acres on approximately 154 acres. Horticulturist William Saunders was enlisted to design an original landscape plan. Meandering streets north of Strathmore Avenue follow the topography, while streets to the south are on a grid. The , M-NCPPC, 1991 landscape plan, with its dense shade trees and flowering shrubs, unifies the variety in street plan, and distinguishes ol Kennedy Car Garrett Park from neighboring subdivisions. -

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA Proposed Metrobus Service Changes FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS-SOUTHEAST LINE – ROUTES 30N, 30S BUDGET • $170,000 DECREASE in subsidy PROPOSED CHANGES • Eliminate service and replace with additional 31, 33 trips between downtown, Georgetown and Friendship Heights Metrorail Station, and additional 32, 36 trips between downtown, Capitol Hill and Naylor Road/Southern Ave Metrorail stations • Late night service after approximately 1 a.m. would operate every 30 minutes as routes 32 and 33 • Routes 32 and 36 would be coordinated with Routes 31 and 33 at major downtown transfer stops to minimize wait times for customers making crosstown trips ALTERNATIVE SERVICE • Routes 31, 33 between downtown, Georgetown and Friendship Heights Metrorail Station • Routes 32, 36 between downtown, Capitol Hill and Naylor Road/Southern Ave Metrorail stations • MetroExtra Route 39 between downtown, Capitol Hill, Fairfax Village and Naylor Road Metrorail Station REASONS FOR CHANGE • Improve on-time performance by eliminating long crosstown routes • Customers would have more frequent service on the shorter 31, 32, 33, 36 routes with coordinated transfers downtown • Simplifies the route pattern in the Pennsylvania Avenue/Wisconsin Avenue corridor PERFORMANCE MEASURES • Approximately 1,000 weekday (19%,) 750 Saturday (18%,) and 800 Sunday (21%) riders who travel between points east of Archives and west of Washington Circle would have to transfer downtown between routes 31, 33 and 32, 36 to complete crosstown trips. PRESENTED AND ADOPTED: January 14, 2021 SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION FOR A COMPACT PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED FISCAL YEAR 2022 CAPITAL BUDGET, OPERATING BUDGET, AND SERVICE REDUCTIONS, AND FOR PUBLIC COMMENT ON PARKING RATE CHANGES 2021-02 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA TRANSIT AUTHORITY WHEREAS, Compact § 62 requires the Board of Directors to hold a public hearing for major service reductions; and WHEREAS, On December 10, 2020 (Resolution 2020-46) the Board authorized a public hearing for the proposed fiscal year (FY) 2022 Capital Budget, Operating Budget and service reductions approved on that date; and WHEREAS, In light of the additional funding to Metro from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 which became law on December 27, 2020, the Board wishes to adopt a different FY 2022 Capital Budget, Operating Budget and service reductions; and WHEREAS, The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requires recipients of Urbanized Area Formula Program C'Section 5307'') grant funding to annually develop, publish, hold a public hearing on, and submit for approval a Program of Projects that is part of the capital budget; and WHEREAS, Enactment Clause 8 of the 2018 Virginia dedicated funding statute requires WMATA to hold a public hearing on a capital improvement plan (part of the capital budget) within the geographic limits of the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC); and WHEREAS, The proposed $2.6 billion Capital Budget for FY 2022, which constitutes the WMATA Program of Projects (included in Attachment A), funds critical safety investments for customers and employees as well as necessary state of good repair investments to improve the safe, reliable and effective performance of the Metro transit system; and WHEREAS, The proposed $12.3 billion Capital Improvement Plan for FY 2022-2027 (included in Attachment A), includes federal funding from FTA annual formula grant programs, including Section 5307 funding; and Motioned by Mr. -
