DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA PROPOSED BUS SERVICE CHANGES FISCAL YEAR 2011 WISCONSIN AVENUE LINE, ROUTE 31 SERVICE AREA Friendship Heights, Tenleytown, Georgetown, Foggy Bottom, Potomac Park, State Department HEADWAY CHANGE / TRIP ELIMINATION Discontinue weekday trips leaving Friendship Heights at 5:25, 5:55, 6:20, and 6:35 a.m. and leaving Potomac Park at 5:59, 6:29, 6:41, 6:54, 7:09, and 7:20 a.m. Discontinue Saturday trips leaving Friendship Heights at 5:51 and 6:21 a.m. and leaving Potomac Park at 6:39 and 7:09 a.m. ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AVAILABLE Routes 32 and 36 between Friendship Heights and Washington Circle. Route L1 between Washington Circle and Potomac Park. Page 2 of 5 MOUNT PLEASANT LINE, ROUTE 42 ONLY SERVICE AREA Mount Pleasant, Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, Farragut Square, McPherson Square, Metro Center ROUTE / SEGMENT ELIMINATION Shorten Route 42 to operate between Mount Pleasant and Franklin Square via the current route from Mount Pleasant to the intersection of H Street & New York Avenue NW, then via New York Avenue, 13th Street, and I (Eye) Street to the new terminal on the north side of I (Eye) Street between 13th and 14th Streets. The portion of Route 42 between Franklin Square and 9th & G Streets NW would be discontinued. There would be no change in the frequency or span of service. ROUTE / SEGMENT ELIMINATION On weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., change the alternating pattern of Route 52 and 54 trips to an alternating pattern of Route 52, 53, and 54 trips. Between McPherson Square and L’Enfant Plaza, the frequency of service on Routes 52 and 54 would be changed from 15 minutes on each route to 20-24 minutes on each route. ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AVAILABLE All stops would continue to be served, but passengers using stops between McPherson Square and L’Enfant Plaza would have a longer wait for a bus. Page 2 of 17 FORT TOTTEN - PETWORTH LINE, ROUTES 60, 64 SERVICE AREA Fort Totten Station, Armed Forces Retirement Home, Petworth, Park View, 11th Street NW, Shaw, Metro Center, Federal Triangle HEADWAY CHANGE / TRIP ELIMINATION Reduce the frequency of Route 64 service on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from 20 minutes to 24 minutes. Reduce the frequency of Saturday service from 22 minutes to 30 minutes. ROUTE / SEGMENT ELIMINATION Discontinue all Route 60 service. WEEKEND LATE NIGHT SERVICE Discontinue late Friday night trips leaving Fort Totten at 12:43, 1:18, 1:54, and 2:29 a.m. and leaving Federal Triangle at 1:20, 1:55, 2:30, and 3:15 a.m. Discontinue late Saturday night trips leaving Fort Totten at 12:39, 1:19, 1:59, and 2:39 a.m. and leaving Federal Triangle at 1:15, 1:55, 2:35, and 3:15 a.m. ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AVAILABLE Most Route 60 passengers would have service on Routes 64 and H8. No service would be available on North Capitol Street between Riggs Road and Hawaii Avenue. No alternative service is available for late night trips proposed to be discontinued. Page 2 of 6 TAKOMA - PETWORTH LINE, ROUTE 62 ONLY SERVICE AREA Takoma, Manor Park, Petworth, Park View, Logan Circle, Metro Center, Federal Triangle HEADWAY CHANGE / TRIP ELIMINATION Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays, reduce the frequency of Route 62 service from 15 minutes to 22 minutes. WEEKEND LATE NIGHT SERVICE Discontinue late Friday night trips leaving Takoma at 1:10, 1:45, 2:20, 2:53, and 3:26 a.m. and leaving Georgia Ave-Petworth Station at 1:27, 2:02, 2:37, 3:10, and 3:43 a.m. Discontinue late Saturday night trips leaving Takoma at 1:12, 1:52, 2:32, and 3:17 a.m. and leaving Georgia Ave-Petworth Station at 1:28, 2:08, 2:48, and 3:33 a.m. ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AVAILABLE No alternative service is available for late night trips proposed to be discontinued. Page 2 of 7 GEORGIA AVENUE - 7TH STREET LINE, ROUTES 70, 71 SERVICE AREA Silver Spring Station, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Brightwood, Park View, Howard University, Washington Convention Center, Archives, L’Enfant Plaza, Fort McNair, Buzzard Point HEADWAY CHANGE / TRIP ELIMINATION Reduce the frequency of a.m. and p.m. peak period service from 10 minutes to 12 minutes. ELIMINATE OVERLAP WITH LOCAL SERVICE Shorten Routes 70 and 71 to operate all trips between Silver Spring and Archives via the current route. The portion of these routes between Archives and Half & O Streets SW or Buzzard Point would be discontinued. (See alternative service available described below.) ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AVAILABLE If Routes 70 and 71 are discontinued south of Archives, it is proposed to reroute P6 from M Street SW via Delaware Avenue, Canal Street, P Street, and 4th Street back to M Street to replace Route 70 and via Delaware Avenue, Canal Street, 2nd Street, V Street, Half Street, S Street, 1st Street, P Street, and 4th Street back to M Street to replace Route 71. ROUTE / SEGMENT ELIMINATION On weekdays between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., shorten every other trip to operate between Fort Totten Station and McPherson Square. Between McPherson Square and Kennedy Center, the frequency of service would be changed from 10-15 minutes to 20-30 minutes. ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AVAILABLE All stops would continue to be served, but passengers using stops between McPherson Square and Kennedy Center would have a longer wait for a bus. Page 2 of 10 STANTON ROAD LINE, ROUTE 94 SERVICE AREA Villages of Parklands, Garfield, Anacostia Station HEADWAY CHANGE / TRIP ELIMINATION Reduce the frequency of a.m. peak period service from 12 to 18 minutes and p.m. peak period service from 11 minutes to 16 minutes. ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AVAILABLE All stops would continue to be served, but passengers would have a longer wait for a bus. General Hospital, Capitol Hill, Union Station, Mount Vernon Triangle, Reeves Center, Adams Morgan, Woodley Park, McLean Gardens WEEKEND LATE NIGHT SERVICE Discontinue late Friday night trips leaving Capitol Heights at 1:14, 1:48, and 2:28 a.m. and leaving Duke Ellington Bridge at 1:33, 2:08, and 2:40 a.m. Discontinue late Saturday night trips leaving Capitol Heights at 1:19, 1:50, and 2:30 a.m. and leaving Duke Ellington Bridge at 1:30, 2:15, and 2:55 a.m. ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AVAILABLE No alternative service is available for late night trips proposed to be discontinued. Village at 12:29 a.m. and leaving Anacostia Station at 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, and 3:30 a.m. Discontinue late Saturday night trips leaving D.C. Village at 12:30 a.m. and leaving Anacostia Station at 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, and 3:00 a.m. ALTERNATIVE SERVICE AVAILABLE No alternative service is available for late night trips proposed to be discontinued.
