Hiring: During this reporting period Radio Bilingüe hired one full-time employee, a Business Assistant. Adriana Rendón was hired on February 5, 2014. She learned about the job opening through Career Builder.

The job opening was announced through e-job bulletins Career Builder, Craigslist. Indeed.com, on radiobilingue.org and the announcement was also posted in our Fresno headquarters. The position is based in Fresno, CA.

Participation in Outreach Activities:

Radio Bilingüe’s Executive Director, Hugo Morales participated as a speaker in three public events:

Aug. 2, 2013- Oxnard, CA- Night in hosted by the Mixteco/Indigenous Community Organizing Project- MICOP. Mr. Morales spoke about the work that Radio Bilingüe does and the importance of having public media that serves minority communities in . MICOP is an organization that represents and serves the more than 20,000 indigenous Mexicans in Ventura who provide the bulk of the farm labor making Ventura agriculture possible.

October 14, 2013- University of , Eugene campus. As part of the Indigenous Solidarity Week, Mr. Morales spoke to three different groups: two groups of students and one community/student presentation on bilingualism, minority communities in the U.S and serving them through media. He also spoke about the history of Radio Bilingüe, its services for indigenous communities, and the challenges of creating a more embracing multicultural conversation within communities in the U.S. The event was hosted by the Native American Student Union.

May 5, 2014- Modesto, CA- Keynote Speaker at the keynote speaker at the "Spirit of Independence Scholarship & Awards Banquet" organized by the Central Valley Opportunity Center. Mr. Morales spoke about the importance of education and the role that educational media has to help improve the lives of people in California’s Central Valley.

April 5, 2014- Producer Alma Martinez was a panelist during El Quinto Sol and Californians for Pesticide Reform Annual Conference at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, CA. She spoke about how CBO’s can establish good relationships with local media to support their work, and about the role of public and community media in having a safer environment.

April 10, 2014- Director of Broadcasting, Maria Eraña, was a panelist at the annual conference of the California Association of Public Information Officers (CAPIO), held in Santa Barbara, CA. Ms. Eraña made a presentation on the difference between commercial and public media and the opportunities available when working with public and community media for providing more in-depth information and maintaining a dialogue with community people in areas or service. She also covered Radio Bilingüe’s work and history of collaboration with CBO’s and government institutions and agencies in many high impact campaigns on a variety of key issues.
