In Atas do IX Encontro Anual da AIM, editado por Marta Pinho Alves, Maria do Rosário Lupi Bello e Iván Villarmea Álvarez, 176-187. Lisboa: AIM. Sunhi: Esto lo he oído antes… Por ejemplo, en su primeriza Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors (오! Imagen 1 – Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors (2000).

We perceive and feel or vice versa, simultaneously, with reason and logic kicking in only much later in the process. It is possible for adults, as well as for children, to receive any number of sensory impressions and be none the richer. Sense impressions are not enough by themselves, for the mind needs education and training to be able to discriminate and appreciate, to distinguish, to categorize and to relate new information to what one already knows.

1–25 NOVEMBER LONSM_350_ .pdf 1 2018. 8. 22. 8:48 It is my pleasure to introduce to you the 13th instalment of the London Korean Film Festival, our annual celebration of Korean Film in all its forms. Since 2006, the Korean Cultural Centre UK has presented the festival with two simple goals, namely to be the most inclusive festival of national cinema anywhere and to always improve on where we left off. As part of this goal Daily to Seoul and Beyond for greater inclusivity, in 2016 the main direction of the festival was tweaked to allow a broader, more diverse range of Korean films to be shown. With special themes exploring different subjects, the popular strands covering everything from box office hits to Korean classics, as well as monthly teaser screenings, the festival has continued to find new audiences for Korean cinema. This year the festival once again works with critics, academics and visiting programmers on each strand of the festival and has partnered with several university film departments as well. At the time of writing, this year’s festival will screen upwards of 55 films, with a special focus entitled ‘A Slice of Everyday Life’. This will include the opening and closing films, Microhabitat by Jeon Go-woon, and The Return by Malene Choi. C ‘A Slice of Everyday Life’ explores valuable snapshots of the sometimes-ignored M lives of ordinary Koreans, often fragile individuals on the edge of society. One Y will also see director Lee Myung-se's films in the Contemporary Classics strand and Park Kiyong's films in the Indie Firepower strand.

  • The Complete Stories
The Complete Stories by Franz Kafka a.b.e-book v3.0 / Notes at the end Back Cover : "An important book, valuable in itself and absolutely fascinating. The stories are dreamlike, allegorical, symbolic, parabolic, grotesque, ritualistic, nasty, lucent, extremely personal, ghoulishly detached, exquisitely comic. numinous and prophetic." -- New York Times "The Complete Stories is an encyclopedia of our insecurities and our brave attempts to oppose them." -- Anatole Broyard Franz Kafka wrote continuously and furiously throughout his short and intensely lived life, but only allowed a fraction of his work to be published during his lifetime. Shortly before his death at the age of forty, he instructed Max Brod, his friend and literary executor, to burn all his remaining works of fiction. Fortunately, Brod disobeyed. Page 1 The Complete Stories brings together all of Kafka's stories, from the classic tales such as "The Metamorphosis," "In the Penal Colony" and "The Hunger Artist" to less-known, shorter pieces and fragments Brod released after Kafka's death; with the exception of his three novels, the whole of Kafka's narrative work is included in this volume. The remarkable depth and breadth of his brilliant and probing imagination become even more evident when these stories are seen as a whole. This edition also features a fascinating introduction by John Updike, a chronology of Kafka's life, and a selected bibliography of critical writings about Kafka. The series, Tales of Cinema: The Films of Hong Sang-soo, runs June 3 through 19, 2016, and will include all of Hong’s films, sixteen features and two short works, dating from 1996 through 2014, many of which only screened in the United States at film festivals. The retrospective coincides with the theatrical release of Hong’s latest film, Right Now, Wrong Then, which opens on June 24, from Grasshopper Films. The films of Hong Sang-soo are at once deceptively simple and dense with subtle shades of meaning. Hong is often compared to legendary French filmmakers Éric Rohmer—for his extended dialogue scenes and his acute moral vision—and Alain Resnais—for his abiding fascination with the function (or malfunction) of memory and the structure of storytelling.

Book publisher Bongwan’s (Kwon Haehyo) marriage is on the rocks after his wife (Cho Yunhee) discovers the affair he’s been having with his assistant (Kim Saebyuk). Now that relationship is ending too and Bongwan’s new assistant, the sharp and sensitive Areum (Kim Minhee), on her first day in the office, is left to navigate the fallout of all the turnover in Bongwan’s life. With its ingeniously destabilizing leaps through time and stark black and white cinematography, THE DAY AFTER begins as a darkly hilarious look at a man embroiled in extramarital entanglements but soon shifts—in a way only Hong can manage—into a heartfelt portrayal of a young woman on a quest for spiritual fulfillment. • Yashwantrao Chavan
Yashwantrao Chavan MESSAGE The birth centenary of Shri Yashwantrao Chavan (1913 - 1984) was celebrated last year in a befitting manner by the Government of Maharashtra and the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai. It was an acknowledgement of his stellar contribution as first Chief Minister to the making of modern Maharashtra, as a State with progressive policies and a decentralized democratic set up of administration. In November, 1962, he became the Defence Minister in the aftermath of the India-China conflict. He worked hard to restore the morale of the armed forces and to enhance his strength through modern weapons, better equipment, organisational changes and a harmonious relationship with the armed forces. The efforts paid off in the India-Pakistan conflict in 1965. Subsequently, he held the high offices of Union Home Minister, Union Finance Minister and Foreign Minister of India. In 1979, he became the Deputy Prime Minister of India. He was a freedom fighter, effective parliamentarian and an astute administrator.
