Hamilton in an Hour - please read this description 5:00pm - 6:00pm, Jun 17 We had technical difficulties with our original, purchased playlist, and we apologize that there is some need to skip YouTube ads here. But it is a great one-hour playlist. To mark the July 3rd release of the film of the Broadway musical Hamilton, which won 11 Tony awards, we bring you a short sample of the inventive, varied music and lyrics that make for such a funny, moving, and compelling story of the nation's first Treasury Secretary. If you already know the music, laugh, cry, and sing along. If not, find out why Mike Pence and our Republican relatives say that it really does live up to the hype. We can't show you the vibrant choreography, staging, or costumes, and some of the language is too rough for very young ears -- hey, it's about young soldiers! -- but it reminds us why liberty and honor go hand in hand. Faced with falling industry profits, ballooning production costs, and music television stations that cared more about ratings, music videos no longer enjoyed the industry support they once had. But as music videos were being sidelined by the music and television industries, they were rapidly becoming integral to online video aggregates and social media sites. The “days of the $600,000 video” might be gone, but in recent years, a new music video culture and economy has emerged.

Pump Up the Jam: How Music in Brand Advertising Can Create Deeper Connections with Consumers Major Research Paper Pump Up the Jam: How Music in Brand Advertising Can Create Deeper Connections with Consumers Laura Andrejicka September 3, 2017 1 Pump Up the Jam: How Music in Brand Advertising Can Create Deeper Connections with Consumers AUTHOR’S DECLARATION I hereby declare that I am the sole author of this MRP. Through analysis of scholarly literature, advertising industry publications, and three recent advertising campaigns and online commentary around those campaigns, this MRP highlights the way advertisers attempt to use sound and music as a “universal language,” as a way of accessing emotion, and as a technique for engineering responses in audiences. The scholarly literature review identifies two broad approaches to research on music in advertising: the first focuses on harnessing the power of sound to enhance the impact of advertising messages whereas the second approach contextualizes and critiques the use of sound in advertising.
