1 Upgrade procedure for Nexus 10.1

This document will help you upgrade your current version of Nexus to Nexus 10.1 .

You need new licenses to run Nexus 10.1 .

If you don‘t have a maintenance contract, please go to your sales contact person of Esko.

2 How to request upgrade licenses when you already have activation based licenses (no dongles)?

You can request your upgrade licenses in 6 steps 1. Log onto the Download Center 2. Select .5

3 3. Tick the check box of the host(s) you want to upgrade.

4. Enter your e-mail address 5. Click the " Request License Upgrades “ button. 6. Our licensing department will create an upgrade license for Nexus 10.1 (They will be available the next business day)

4 Important information Do not move or deactivate licenses for Nexus 9.5 until you activated the upgrade licenses for Nexus 10.1, doing so will cause problems and it will no longer allow you to activate the upgrade license .

With the licenses for Nexus 10.1 , it is possible to run Nexus 9.5

Please don‘t forget to also download the Nexus Manager 10.1 to use Nexus 10.1

Note that Nexus Manager 10.1 is not available for PowerPC

5 How to request upgrade licenses when you are still using dongles for Nexus?

If you are still using dongles for Nexus, you have to replace the dongles by activation based licenses. You will have to disable or turn in your dongle after the upgrade process. A temporary license for 90 days after activation will be available on the Download Center the next business day. During this 90 days period you will need to either disable or return the dongle in order to receive the permanent license.

You can request temporary licenses in 4 steps 1. Log onto the Download Center 2. Go to the page of Nexus 10.1 3. Enter your e-mail address 4. Click the “ Request License” button to request your temporary licenses for Nexus 10.1

6 How to deactivate your Nexus dongle?

Important info Note that after you disable your dongle you will not be able to run Nexus 9.0 or previous versions

Procedure If you are connected to the Internet: 1. Make sure your dongle is still connected to your workstation 2. Launch the freshly installed Nexus version 3. Open Nexus Config Application > Dongle 4. Click the "Disable Dongle" button. 5. You will need to confirm the operation twice.

If you are not connected to the Internet: You will be able to save the disable dongle data into a file. You will need to visit the (http://www.esko.com/donglereturn) website, and upload the file you just saved to finalize your 'Disable Dongle' procedure.

The next business day, your permanent licenses to replace the dongle will be ready and available on the Download Center.

7 How to install the software and activate the licenses?

Important info for Windows Before installing, make sure RDS or Terminal Service is disabled or removed

1. To upgrade your software, just download and run the installer package. 2. The Nexus installer will also update your EskoArtwork Local License Manager to the latest version. 3. To activate your licenses: 1. Open the EskoArtwork Local License Manager 1. For Windows, go to Start > Programs > Esko > Local License manager > Manage local licenses 2. For Mac, this is typically installed in the Applications folder 2. Click the Activate button to launch the activation wizard, 3. select your upgrade license file or temporary license file and Activate You will need your activation account and password. If you don‘t have one yet, request one here .
