Hjólaferð — Altea, Spánn 15 HJÓLAFERÐ — ALTEA, SPÁNN 15. - 22. MAÍ MEÐ LILJU LIND PÁLSDÓTTUR ROAD 1 Departure from Hotel Cap Negret to discover the North area of Altea. This itinerary of 46 km will take you to riding through nice villages and natural/historical attractions as: • Algar Waterfalls located only 15 km from Benidormyou can find a natural area with a high degree of conservation of the ecological richness and also tourist services and environmental education. This area was declared a Wetland protected by the Valencian Government. • Tárbena Of Muslim origin, it was conquered by the infante Pedro de Aragón in the name of Jaime I. It formed part of the territory dominated by Al-Azraq. In 1274 it belonged to Sibila de Saga and Bernat de Sarrià. Later it would pass to the family Montcada, marquises of Aitona, and finally to the counts of Orgaz. Place of moriscos dependent on Ondara, after its expulsion in 1609 the place was repopulated with Mallorcan. His castle is of Muslim origin. • Bolulla. The origin of Bolulla is a Muslim farmstead that a document of the fifteenth century located in the Vall de Garx and whose place name could derive from the Arab Abu-i- ulya. Along with current depopulated Moriscos Alcia and Garx he formed a barony same since the mid-sixteenth century was owned by the archbishopric of Valencia. Among the three numbered 14 houses in 1510, the same as in 1609, when the expulsion of its inhabitants Moriscos took place, being depopulated only Bolulla, which in 1646 was just 14 inhabited houses anda few more, about 16 houses, at the beginning of the century XVII. The town, notably recovered from abandonment that was submitted in previous decades, is located next to the ravine of Bolulla, at the foot of the Tosal of L’Hort, with narrow streets and steep (Mayor, Ferrers, Sant Joseph) adapted to the contour lines. Among his village is the parish church of Sant Josep and its square bell tower of the eighteenth century. 2.5 kilometers NW of the village, on a high bluff is the ruins of a small castle of Muslim origin. Celebrates the festivities in San Jose, the Dolorosa and the Blessed Sacrament in August. The people of this county are called bolulleros. • Collosa d´En Serriá its origins can be traced to an Arab farmstead. From the start, this was always a coveted region, due to the rich, abundant and pure waters of the Algar river, also known as the "river of health". On the highest point of the historic quarter of Callosa d’en Sarrià we find the archpriest church of San Juan Bautista, rebuilt in the middle of the 18th century. Remains of the original wall of an ancient castle is preserved nowadays in Plaza de Castell. This fortress was home to all the lords of Callosa, until it disappeared in the 18th century. Houses were then built, using the remains of its walls and outbuildings. In the historic quarter, typical Mediterranean houses line the streets, and we can visit the "poador", where women used to go wash their clothes and fill their pitchers to carry home some water. Since 1860, this town celebrates the festivities of "Moors and Christians", declared to be of National Tourist Interest, on the second weekend of October. ROAD 2 Departure from Hotel Cap Negret to discover the South area of Altea. This itinerary of 48 km will take you to riding inside and around the beautiful area of Sierra Helada. The Sierra Helada is a protected nature park with a wide range of fauna and flora. The coastline is one of the most beautiful in the Valencian region. This natures park is protect dry land and sea areas .The Sierra Helada is a high area with a total surface of 5564 hectares of which 4920 hectares are a marine reserve. A real natural park. The underwater areas are some of the most interesting of the Spanish coast with an exceptional biological diversity. Therefore, for lovers of snorkelling and diving a must. At Punta Bombarda, on the top of the rock, at the Albir lighthouse in Alfaz del Pi there is a new telescope in operation. The best is that the telescope allows the people to spot dolphins in the Sierra Helada Natural park. ROAD 3 Departure from Hotel Cap Negret to discover the North-East area of Altea. This itinerary of 65 km will take you to riding around the beautiful mountains of “Sierra de Bernía y Ferrer”and its highlights as: • Bodegas Parcent it’s a Family-run winery with a small production of traditionally made wines. The winery conserves its Arabic construction from the late 19th century, a style of architecture known as "riu rau" as it refers to the former drying rooms for Muscatel raisins. • Alcalalí is part of the Jalon Valley (also known as Vall de Pop), situated inland from the coastal towns of Denia, Javea and Moraira. The Jalon Valley is situated on the Costa Blanca North Spain. • Here you can visit Parish Museum of San Juan de la Ribera: The museum houses exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, clothing, books, jewellery, etc. • Ethnological Museum: Located in the old mill in Alcalalí. Both machinery utensils that were used to make the oil and wine have been restored. The museum shows us the daily lives of the farmers of the time. • Jalón is the capital of the Jalon Valley, also known as the Vall de Pop (Pop Valley), situated beside the River Gorgos, in a plain, surrounded by the Sierra de Bernia and the Sierra del Forner mountains. Jalon boasts some of the most magnificent scenery in Spain, with its landscape of olive and pine trees, intermingled with orange groves and vineyards and its remote villages of Jalon, Alcalali, Lliber and Parcent. Just off the main square of Jalon there is the beautiful church of Jalon, built in a neo-classic style with its remarkable altar and blue dome. • Calpe, a town with a long history and deeply-rooted traditions, is also one of the maintourist destinations on the Costa Blanca. The Marina, the promenade and eleven kilometres of coastline, marked by cliffs, beaches and coves, are some of the many attractions. Another attraction is one of the symbols of the town, the Rock of Ifach, a huge calcareous rock, 332 metres high, that penetrates the sea and gave the town its name. This region has been declared Nature Reserve, because of its botanicaland faunal diversity. The best views of Calpe and its coastline are seen from the top of the rock, accessible through guided tours at the park. ROAD 4 Departure from Hotel Cap Negret to discover the South-West area of Altea. This itinerary of 68 km will take you to riding at the foot of the famous “Puig Campana” the most famous mountain at the area. During this ride session you´ll discover: • La Nucia, In 1705, La Nucía became an independent town when it separated from the Barony of Polop. With this fact, history shows how most towns and villages, which are now a part of Marina Baixa (one of the seven regions which make up the province of Alicante in the Autonomous Region of Valencia) have shared roots. Although its prosperity was based on the resources of a fertile land, this was not enough to cover the needs of the growing population in the 19th Century and it forced people to immigrate. In their search of work through different Spanish provinces, other countries and continents, the Nucieros showed their skills in jobs as difficult as stone cutting or producing cooked pork products. They also worked in the most diverse jobs in different places: the Philippines, the United States of America, Argentina or Algeria, • closer to our home country. We might consider that this difficult stage was the final phase of the apprenticeship necessary to become a people who are today renowned for their welcoming nature. That’s what most families from different Spanish regions or other countries think about people from La Nucia and that’s why they love spending long periods of time in our town- some of them have their second home here. It seems as if they were charmed not only by the mildness of the climate but also by the kindness of the inhabitants. Here anybody can find an open and plural horizon, like the pages of this long story. • Finestrat, a treasure from the sea and mountains Finestrat, one of the most emblematic of the Costa Blanca, is easily reachable by the imposing height of its peak Puig Campana. Thanks to the prominence on landscape of the province exercises this mountain; we know immediately exact location of this picturesque village where Moorish streets and terraced houses captivate us on the rock. The natural treasures of this population down to the sea are his beach that is bathed by the warm waters of the Mediterranean creek that bears his name. Few enclaves in the world with these whimsical blessings of nature. The old town of Finestrat, located only 9 kilometres from the beach, overlooking rows of terraced houses on the foothills of the highest peak in the region. In this context Geographic, the scenario that offers Finestrat from the outside is really amazing. • On a walk pr its oldest part, dotted with picturesque spots and gardens are interest in the Church of Sant Bertomeu, the Chapel of the Holy Christ's Remedy and other religious symbols such as 'Taulells'. • Its historic center was built on the foundations of an ancient Moorish castle deonde the viewpoint 'The Castle' offers magnificent views.

Conegué a Vicente Wenceslao Querol i foren grans amics literaris.

Muelle en ses Illetes, Formentera Formentera with Ibiza at the back Part of our business success is due to the sailing weather in the area - highly valued by the organizers of the America's Cup and the Volvo Ocean Race, along with the excellent microclimate enjoyed by the Alicante area, with an average of 300 sunny days per year. From May to October, we enjoy easterly winds, which make for very pleasant cruises. They are tempered winds, since they come from the sea. From November to April, the "whisky" westerly winds are more dominant, and a bit more intense than the previous winds but, since they come from the land, do not cause waves and also make for very pleasant sailing.
