• Castell de Castells is a small village placed between Denia and Alcoy. It is considered as a part of the Marina Alta region, although it is very close to the town of , as this region limits with El Comtat. This charming village is surrounded by mountains on all its sides, although the most well-known ones are Serrella and Alfaro. Castell de Castells is placed in an area which is full of history and has many neolithic archaeologic sites. This village was repopulated by people from the Balearic Islands – such as many of the villages in the area – after the arabic period of the zone, which ended in 1609 when the christian army defeated the moors in a battle called “Pla de Petrarcos”. Before the area was re-conquered and repopulated, the current village limits contained up to three different settlements. This area, in addition to being full of history, is full of great and well- preserved nature. • One of its most interesting sites is the sanctuary of Pla de Petrarcos, which was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It has recently been improve in order to help the locals and tourists enjoy and understand better the importance of their visit, as it is a beautiful natural site, but it has also a crucial historic role for its region. • Facheca, The Facheca name comes from the word which in Arabic means "there" that time ago was very common in this area.
