====== Do not take Aspirin for pain or fever. Follow label instructions for any prescriptions given by the Physician and take medications with you to your doctor. Take your medications how the doctor told you to. The medication might make you sleepy. Do not drive or use farm vehicles while you are taking this medication. Avoid any use of the injured part. Allow only limited use of the part.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
PREGNANCY INSTRUCTIONS
You should come back to the hospital for any of the Page 2 ED_PROVIDER_DISCHARGE following:
1. You have noticed less than 5 movements in one hour. Your baby is
not moving as much, if you are 24 or more weeks pregnant.
2. You are bleeding from the vagina. A small amount of bloody discharge after a
vaginal exam, is normal.
3. You have a gush of fluid or are leaking fluid.
Foul smelling vaginal discharge.
4. Consistent, painful uterine contractions, lasting 45-60 seconds, every 3-5
minutes if you are more than 37 weeks pregnant.
5. If less than 37 weeks pregnant and having 4 or more contractions per hour.
6. Sudden weight gain or puffiness in your face, hands, or feet.
7. Heartburn or pain that does not go away.
8. Burning when urinating, increased frequency or urgent sensation to urinate.
9. You have a temperature of 100.5 F or greater
10. Nausea or vomiting for more than 24 hours and unable to keep down fluids.
11. Your abdomen becomes hard and does not relax.
12. Severe Abdominal pain.
13. If you experience any abdominal trauma.

HEAD INJURY INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Problems from head injuries can happen hours to days after
your injury.

(even within several months).
3. Uncontrollable vomiting, stiff neck, fever.
(Vomiting once or twice is not uncommon)
4. Unequal pupils (one pupil large, one small)
5. Confusion or unusual drowsiness.
6. Persistent headaches or blurred vision.
7. Confusion or unusual behavior.

SPRAIN AND FRACTURE, SEVERE BRUISES:
1. Elevate the injured part to lessen swelling.
2. Ice packs also help prevent swelling, especially during the
first 48 hours. Place ice in plastic or rubber bag and cover
with a cloth.
3. Apply hot packs after 48 hours of ice. Place hot moist towel
on area, cover with plastic and a towel - leave on about 20 minutes
or until cool; remove pack and leave off 20 minutes. Repeat for
24 hours. Do not use a heating pad.
4. If you have an elastic bandage, rewrap if too tight or loose.

CAST CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Keep cast dry at all times.
2. Wait 48 hours for the cast to become strong before you allow
pressure or weight on any part of the cast.
3. Wiggle toes or fingers to help prevent swelling in the
cast - this should be done often if it does not cause pain.
4. If the part swells anyway or gets cold, blue, or numb, or
if pain increases markedly, have it checked promptly by a doctor.

BACK AND NECK INJURY INSTRUCTIONS:
Gentle but firm massage will increase circulation in sore muscles,
and will help to clear the soreness.

WOUND CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Keep the dressing clean and dry.
2. Elevate the wound to help relieve soreness and help speed wound healing.
3. Despite the greatest care, any wound can be infected. If your wound
becomes red, swollen, shows pus or red streaks on your skin or feels
more sore instead of less sore as days go by you must report to your doctor
right away.
