10 Pride of Bournemouth Afternoon Tea and Talk on the Hampshire Swift Society

Darrell Sturmey, one of our newer members, and a very enthusiastic supporter of all our feathered friends, gave us a very interesting talk on the Hampshire Swift Society at our November Afternoon Tea. I’m not too sure how a flamingo got in on the act, but it was good fun to welcome him! The talk was much appreciated by the guests and many questions were asked and answered and we were able to compare Swifts, Swallows and House Martins - we all learnt a lot and it was lovely to have recordings of the swifts in flight. Who knew that the swifts spend most of their lives on the wing - eating, drinking, sleeping?

The Afternoon Tea refreshments were excellent and we would like to thank everyone who helped in any way to help make the afternoon such a success - with big thanks to Darrell, of course, for his entertaining talk. District Early Christmas Tea and Music
