2016 Annual Report 2016 Annual Letter To our fellow shareholders: Well…. here we go. This letter is supposed to be my turn to tell you about Saga, but this year is a little different because it involves other people telling you about Saga. The following is a letter sent to the staff at WNOR FM 99 in Norfolk, Virginia. Directly or indirectly, I have been a part of this station for 35+ years. Let me continue this train of thought for a moment or two longer. Saga, through its stockholders, owns WHMP AM and WRSI FM in Northampton, Massachusetts. Let me share an experience that recently occurred there. Our General Manager, Dave Musante, learned about a local grocery/deli called Serio’s that has operated in Northampton for over 70 years. The 3rd generation matriarch had passed over a year ago and her son and daughter were having some difficulties with the store. Dave’s staff came up with the idea of a ‘‘cash mob’’ and went on the air asking people in the community to go to Serio’s from 3 to 5PM on Wednesday and ‘‘buy something.’’ That’s it. Zero dollars to our station. It wasn’t for our benefit. Community outpouring was ‘‘just overwhelming and inspiring’’ and the owner was emotionally overwhelmed by the community outreach. As Dave Musante said in his letter to me, ‘‘It was the right thing to do.’’ Even the local newspaper (and local newspapers never recognize radio) made the story front page above the fold. Permit me to do one or two more examples and then we will get down to business. -

Across Canada Application 2007-0769-8 Public Hearing in the National Capital Region 27 August 2007 Acquisition of assets The Commission approves an application by which Astral Media Radio (Toronto) Inc. and 4382072 Canada Inc., partners in a general partnership, carrying on business as Astral Media Radio G.P., will acquire the assets of the radio and television undertakings owned by Standard Radio Inc. The approval is subject to three conditions of approval, set out in Appendix 4 to this decision, which relate to the proposed tangible benefits package. Introduction 1. The Commission received an application by Astral Media Radio Inc. (Astral), initially filed on its own behalf, and on behalf of a general partnership consisting of two of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, to acquire the assets of the radio and television programming undertakings across Canada owned by Standard Radio Inc. (Standard). A list of the undertakings to be acquired is set out in Appendix 1 to this decision. Astral also applied for licences to continue the operation of these undertakings under the same terms and conditions as those set out in the current licences. 2. In a letter to the Commission dated 17 August 2007, Astral clarified that the assets of Standard would be acquired by a general partnership consisting of Astral Media Radio (Toronto) Inc. and 4382072 Canada Inc., both wholly-owned subsidiaries of Astral, carrying on business as Astral Media Radio G.P. -

The end of this year also marks the beginning of an excit- ing new journey for the Fund as it transitions to a new funding model. The past seven years saw the Fund invest in a long list of incredibly rich films, from The Breadwinner and Maudie, to Closet Monster, Blood Quantum, and more. THE FOUNDATION ASSISTING CANADIAN TALENT ON RECORDINGS. 2006 - 2007 ANNUAL REPORT The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings. factor, The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings, was founded in 1982 by chum Limited, Moffat Communications and Rogers Broadcasting Limited; in conjunction with the Canadian Independent Record Producers Association (cirpa) and the Canadian Music Publishers Association (cmpa). Standard Broadcasting merged its Canadian Talent Library (ctl) development fund with factor’s in 1985. As a private non-profit organization, factor is dedicated to providing assistance toward the growth and development of the Canadian independent recording industry. The foundation administers the voluntary contributions from sponsoring radio broadcasters as well as two components of the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Canada Music Fund which support the Canadian music industry. factor has been managing federal funds since the inception of the Sound Recording Development Program in 1986 (now known as the Canada Music Fund). Support is provided through various programs which all aid in the development of the industry. The funds assist Canadian recording artists and songwriters in having their material produced, their videos created and support for domestic and international touring and showcasing opportunities as well as providing support for Canadian record labels, distributors, recording studios, video production companies, producers, engineers, directors– all those facets of the infrastructure which must be in place in order for artists and Canadian labels to progress into the international arena. factor started out with an annual budget of $200,000 and is currently providing in excess of $14 million annually to support the Canadian music industry. Canada has an abundance of talent competing nationally and internationally and The Department of Canadian Heritage and factor’s private radio broadcaster sponsors can be very proud that through their generous contributions, they have made a difference in the careers of so many success stories.
