The Institute started its operations under the mentorship and guidance of IIM Ahmedabad. IIM Nagpur has completed its fifth year and is geared up to move to its world-class campus in the heart of the Multimodal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN), the groundbreaking ceremony for which was conducted in the presence of Union Cabinet Minister Shri. Nitin Gadkari, the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, and Guardian Minister for Nagpur, Shri. Chandrashekhar Bawankule. IIM Nagpur is steadily carving its niche and outperforming other IIMs of its generation, ranking 40th in the Management Category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020 announced by the Minstry of HRD, Govt. of India. In the five years since its inception, as a rapidly growing new generation IIM, IIM Nagpur has strived for excellence in on-campus learning opportunities that facilitate intensive participation and extensive teamwork through critical thinking and decision-making. The four batch-strong alumni network has been setting milestones in the corporate space. IIM Nagpur has always strived for adaptability and has proven successful in staying in tune with ever-changing times, by making a move to digital platforms for online classes, online interviews, and guest sessions to serve the student fraternity during the challenges presented as a result of the pandemic this year. The Institute is well poised for capacity- and capability-building among the students, striving to meet global academic standards and nurturing young leadership with its extensive use of case study methodology, industry visits, guest sessions, and classroom lessons. The Field Immersion Module and the International Immersion are some of the unique teaching techniques undertaken by the Institute to shape the students who are ready to face the everyday uncertainties of the business world. The motto “Satyam cha svadhyayapravachanecha” reflects the Institute’s belief in the constant striving for personal excellence as well as a collective quest and pursuit towards the continual unfolding of ever new vistas of higher/deeper realities. It promotes a positive bias towards excellence in thought and action and lifelong learning through practices such as frugal innovation and entrepreneurial approach. 01 Indian Institute of Management Nagpur Celebrating YEARS of IIM Nagpur Placement Brochure PGP 2019-21 02 — Director’s Message As an emerging institution in the very heart of the country, the Indian Institute of Management Nagpur prides itself on its focus on constant evolution in the pursuit of excellence. The Batch of 2019-21 manifests this sentiment in its spirited and diverse nature. The batch contains an ideal mix of recent graduates and experienced students - with over a quarter of the batch having garnered over 36 months of industry experience, and a considerable proportion of fresh graduates. These, in turn, are comprised of graduates from a plethora of academic backgrounds – engineering, commerce, hotel management, chemistry, and allied fields. Those with experience have worked in sectors ranging from IT/ITES to consulting, aviation, power, and BFSI. A young batch that averages 25 years of age, the class boasts of a cosmopolitan nature, with the students hailing from 22 states. The students’ association with IIM Nagpur ensures the highest standards of academic distinction. The demanding curriculum of the Post Graduate Programme equips the students with a comprehensive understanding of the workings of an organization. Mentored by outstanding faculty members with an excellent record of research and teaching, the students not only master the fundamentals of management in the classroom but also develop a critical approach to apply them in actual business scenarios during their Field Immersion Module. While this module acquaints them with SMEs, government bodies, and NGOs working at the grassroots, the International Immersion Module in the second year exposes them to the global business environment – in project mode as well as CXO / company visitation mode. In the past, students have visited Japan, Singapore, Dubai, France, and South Korea during this immersion, and imbibed valuable lessons. Their problem-solving skills are, therefore, honed on both the conceptual and practical fronts. Excellence at IIM Nagpur is not limited to the curriculum alone. While some students have already forayed into research with publications in international journals, others have ventured beyond course offerings to obtain credentials such as CFA and Six Sigma. IIMN students have also made their presence felt in sports such as chess, archery, air pistol shooting, table tennis, and cricket at the state and national levels. They were also recognized at various levels in national events like OnePlus ET Now, Tata Crucible, MCX Comquest 2020, V-Guard Big Idea, Future Generali, and Business Line Boardroom Challenge. They introduced several events at IIMN like Zero Mile Fest (Cultural fest), Utkarsh (HR Conclave), Invictus (Marketing Fest), etc. I must acknowledge the resilience and proactive nature of the batch. Just when COVID-19 pandemic suddenly broke out, the entire batch had to be evacuated within a short notice period of a couple of days, only for them to reassemble virtually from their respective homes and be able to attend online classes and examinations within one week. In addition, during the lockdown period, they also converted the idle time imposed into an opportunity, by interacting with several eminent personalities and area experts who shared their insights on a number of topics of contemporary interest. I place on record my appreciation of their ability to adapt so quickly; they have indeed shown their readiness for the emerging new normal conditions. Our current campus in the VNIT Nagpur premises provides a nurturing, self-sufficient ecosystem for the students to benefit from the best in management education and develop themselves as leaders capable of impacting the practice of management in any domain of their choosing. We anticipate our capabilities to grow by leaps and bounds with the completion of the construction of our 130-acre permanent campus, where we hope to move in during this year. Since our inception, four batches of IIM Nagpur have found fulfilling internship and placement opportunities from renowned companies as well as emerging startups. Our students have been placed in a range of functions, such as marketing, operations, finance, strategy, and consulting. Industry interaction is not limited to placement season alone. Throughout the year, our campus welcomes industry leaders for guest sessions, conclaves, and panel discussions, where they share their experiences with the students. We view this as a sign of the confidence that the industry has placed in the mettle and the promise that our students exhibit. I welcome recruiters and representatives from the industry to visit us and interact with the dynamic Batch of 2019-21. I also wish our students a fulfilling professional journey ahead. Prof. L S Murty Director, IIM Nagpur 03 Indian Institute of Management Nagpur — Faculty Speaks Prof. Dr. Vidhula Venugopal One thing that I learnt very quickly about the PGP batch of 2019-2021 is how enthused they are by their purposeful ambitions. This translated to lively discussions in class that showcased their critical thinking with an openness for widely diverse viewpoints. There is also a deep sense of responsibility to the environment and society that is embedded in their business acumen and understanding of organisational
