That is the day our individual salva- tion began. Baptism is the day:  We were claimed for Christ our Saviour by the sign of the cross  We were cleansed from original sin to a new birth to innocence. Being washed clean by water and the Holy Spirit.  We became a child of God—able to call God our Father, Jesus our brother and have the Holy Spirit dwelling in our hearts, because we are adopted into God’s family;  We were welcomed as a member into the believing community of God’s people we call the Church. The Church teaches that there needs to be a realistic hope that the child will be brought up in the Catholic faith (Can 868‡1). “A realistic hope is not the same as absolute certainty, nor is it only wishful thinking. Such as hope is easily verified when the parents are practicing Catholics or when other mem- bers of the Church community can give reliable assurances to this ef- fect” ( Peter Ingham).

Congratulations and best wishes to Adriana Moore and Thomas Hunter who will be married next weekend. Both Adriana and Thomas are involved in different ministries in the parish and are well known to many of us. God bless you both!

Contemplation is nothing else than a secret, peaceful, and loving infusion of God, which if admitted, 2 | will set the soul on fire with the Spirit of love. St. John of the Cross

I was saddened to read that almost 30 per cent of Australians have declared that they do not know God. Despite be- ing reported as the “nones” beating the Catholics, we know the census results are not a numbers game. For those of us who have experienced the joy and peace which comes from a relationship with Christ, today’s news should compel us to go out and tell peo- ple of His love and the wonder of the Gospel. For those who have taken a break or fallen away from God, it’s never too late! His mercy is great and His love is awe- some. The doors of the Church are open – come on in! Archbishop OP via Facebook

HOLY FATHER’S UPCOMING APPEAL: The annual Holy Father’s Appeal will be held next weekend. Through this appeal you will become a vital partner of Pope Francis in his mission to de- liver corporal works of mercy to where they are needed the most, anywhere in the world. Please consider giving your generous support. Thank you.

Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP responds to allegations against Cardinal .
