CULL EWES & RAMS (237) Max. £88 Another whopping entry of cull ewes which sold to another strong trade on the week. A large proportion of smaller, leaner ewes entered which affected the average, heavier cull ewes looked a strong price. Best ewes to £88 from J Whatley with other strong ewes to £85. Any strong ewes with flesh enjoyed a strong trade, all £70+. Another good run of easy care ewes to £63 from J & K Walther. We now have a strong contingent of buyers all willing to compete against each other to buy ewes, we can handle 300+ ewes each week. Any undeclared ram store lambs will be subject to a 25% deduction if found by the buyer after the auction. To prevent this please declare all ram lambs when booking them in.

Close behind the Edwards family to £422, Wardour Farms to £418 and RN Trott to £400. Plenty more medium types cruising past £300 with only the very smallest under £200. An excellent trade all round. Blue heifers again an improved trade topping at £262 and £248 from PHG Turner and £260 from Messrs Sprake. All grades wanted with hardly any below £130. Simmentals topped to £240 from Messrs Trowbridge for a sweet heifer. A single smart Limousin bull from RGE Durston caused a stir to £362. No best heifers but a smart run of medium sorts again to £175 from PHG Turner. NATIVE BULLS TO £365/NATIVE HEIFERS TO £170 Another grand show of Natives, but this said top quality was hard to find, but those here were exceptionally sought after topping at £365 from the Gerring Partners for a quality Angus bull. FLECKVIEH DISPERSAL SALE WEDNESDAY 14TH OCTOBER Frome Livestock market were pleased to be asked to conduct the first production sale of 60 home bred “Dancing Hill” pedigree Fleckvieh heifers on behalf of Tom & Em Voizey which was a resounding success. With a ring full of socially distanced buyers and a large number registered online a truly marvellous trade unfolded. Topping the day was a super freshly calved heifer, “Dancing Hill Melanda 5” giving 28L raced away to £2089.50. In calf heifers to Fleckvieh semen were the want of the day topping at £2100 for “Dancing Hill Elina “ who is due to calve at the end of October. A further 3 sold to an exceptional £1890. A very tidy run of bulling heifers aged between 15 – 22months ticked all the boxes. “Dancing Hill Erbsi 6” proved favourite of the day selling away to the North on the internet for an exceptional £1260, all proved very popular with plenty cruising past the £1000 mark. The whole catalogue was a credit to the Voizey family. 17 freshly calved heifers, 15 in calf heifers and 31 bulling heifers resulted in a superb average of £1375. ORGANIC Only a handful of Organic for our non-organic day but trade exceptional and buyers eager for Organic cattle which are in short supply. 18mo Hereford steers from SC Pomeroy dear at £870, Angus heifers 18mo to £740.

COWS & CALVES A mixed entry of cows & calves but all generally sold to their potential. Limousin x cows with 5mo Herefords heifers peaked at £1100. Younger Blue cows with bull calves at foot to £990. A super Blue x cow with 6mo Angus heifer calf from Andy Morgan & family saw strong bidding to £1350! A part dispersal/reduction sale for Wilsco Ltd saw their strong Pedigree Hereford cows & calves top at £1400 with in calf cows to £800. FEEDING BULLS Quality Belgian Blue x 14mo from Townsend Farming Co saw lively bidding at £895. Less Holstein types 11mo to £370. YOUNG CONTINENTAL Some good consignments forward this week and trade again lively. Super suckled Charolais from Andy Russell 8mo saw a top trade to £870 and regularly over £700. His super 6mo heifers were eagerly sought at £700 and £690. Neil & Sharon Glover again seeing a strong trade for their Charolais 9mo at £798 and £760. More 7mo good Charolais single suckled from Tonerspuddle while their best heifers peaked at £768. Top class suckled Blonde x steers & heifers 6 – 7mo presented by regular supporter PE Webb created excellent bidding seeing steers to £875 and heifers to £600. Another outstanding consignment of top quality suckled Limousin steers & heifers 13mo being presented by Tom Bartlett & family, demand for these best of types was again strong at £1095 and regularly £965 - £900. Heifers from the same home easily to £888. Dairy bred Continentals saw a variable trade with some good Blues from Willow Farm. 12 – 14mo which easily topped at £895, their heifers 11mo to £725.

FRIESIANS A smaller entry of Friesians forward which sold to another strong trade. Best to £835 from Paul Hurd. Other quality British Friesians to £780 from RDR Stevens. Other forward Friesians to £772 from CG Pulsford & Partners with others to £750 from WR Prior & Sons and £732 from HJ & SH Weeden. Younger types to £548 from WR Prior & Sons.

HEREFORD Over 100 on offer again which met another spectacular trade. Best Hereford steers at only 19mo reaped a well-deserved premium selling to £1135 from LP Shackell & Son, their other well grown steers selling to £1070 at 24mo. Other Hereford steers sold well to £975 (22mo) from Golden Valley Farm. Young steers an electric trade with 6mo to £610 from Neil & Sharon Glover and 5mo to £498 from Sparsholt College. A good trade was met for the Hereford heifers with Graham Spiller producing the top price of £805 (27mo), bulling potential heifers to £785 (22mo) from Brian Trott and 18mo to £750 from SR & CE Moorlen. Yearling heifers another highlight of the day selling to £702 from BK & A Garrett & Son.

FORWARD CONTINENTALS Quality wanted and met an amazing trade. The excellent consignment from CG Purchase & Son Ltd was the highlight of the day receiving great interest with their Blue steers selling from £1150 - £1105 (25mo) closely followed at £1148 (23mo) from MS Coole & Son. Other well reared Blues sold well to £1060 from LP Shackell & Son. Simmental steers sold well to £1078 (24mo) from CG Purchase & Son Ltd and their Limousin steers also met a premium selling to £1142 (25mo). Other Limousins also keenly sought to £1095 from both Tommy Bartlett and Paul Hurd. His well fleshed Fleckvieh steers also wanted and sold to £1098 (27mo). Younger steers met tremendous bidding with Simmental steers 20mo to £1000 from Petersham Farms, Blue steers 21mo also to £1000 from MS Coole & Son and Limousin steers 17mo to £995 from R Carpenter. Best heifers met an outstanding trade with Blonde heifers selling to £1162 (28mo) from Steve Poulsom. Well fleshed Australian Lowline heifers met a premium to £1050 (19mo). Several consignments of younger heifers with bulling potential regularly sold from £830 - £740.
