Senior Fall Athletes (in alphabetical order)

Sophia Abatangelo ’17, Field Hockey

Sophia is a day student from Raleigh, NC. Her parents are Anthony and Ann Abatangelo. Sophia is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team and plays attack. She loves being with friends and competing on the field. Sophia is also the Executive SGA Student Life Chair, and Editor of The Belles, Vice President of the Young Democrats Club, a member of the National Honor Society, and plays in the spring.

Anna Allen ’17, Tennis

Anna is a boarder from Goldsboro, NC. Her parents are Chuck and Lori Allen. Anna is a two-year member of the Saint Mary’s tennis team and plays doubles. She plays tennis for the love of the game and to compete with her teammates. Anna is a member of the Spanish Club, Young Republicans Club, Model UN, and plays soccer in the spring.

Emily Benton ’17, Volleyball

Emily is a day student from Ivanhoe, NC. Her parents are Joe and Amanda Benton. Emily is a two-year member of the Saint Mary’s varsity volleyball team and plays middle . She loves starting the school year off competing with her friends on the court. She hopes to continue playing in college. Emily is a member of the Trapshooting Club, Personal Finance Club, Young Republicans Club and plays soccer in the spring.

Ella Bristow ’17, Cross Country

Ella is a boarder from Columbia, SC. Her parents are Peter and Claire Bristow. Ella is a three-year member of the Saint Mary’s varsity cross country team. She loves using XC to getting into shape and challenging herself during her race. Ella is a Marshal, a member of the Athletic Council, Young Republicans Club, and the Belles.

Lucy Church ’17, Tennis

Lucy a day student from Raleigh, NC. Her parents are John and Nancy Church. Lucy is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s tennis team and plays singles and doubles. She enjoys being on a team that represents Saint Mary’s through competition and sportsmanship. Lucy would love to play club tennis in college. She is a member of the Babysitting Club, The Belles, Granddaughter’s Club, and the Young Republican’s Club.

Lauryn Durham ’17, Volleyball

Lauryn is a boarder from Greensboro, NC. Her parents are Eugene and Kathy Durham. Lauryn is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s volleyball team. She plays because it allows her to relieve stress through competition and share good times with teammates and coaches. Lauryn is the Senior Class President, a member of the Executive SGA, International Thespian Society, and the Human Rights Alliance.

Bailey Griffin ’17, Cross Country

Bailey is a boarder from Alexandria, VA. Her parents are Ken Griffin and Kim Goines. Bailey is a three-year member of the Saint Mary’s cross country team. She appreciates how strong their team bond is even with XC being an individual . Bailey hopes to run in college at the club level, and looks forward to running a half marathon in the spring. She is a member of the National Art Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, President of the Bookmark Club, Photography Club, Echo,

Human Rights Alliance, LGBTQ Alliance, Young Democrats, Granddaughters Club, and The Belles.

Emilie Hoke ’17, Tennis

Emilie is a day student from Raleigh, N.C. Her parents are David and Julia Hoke. Emilie is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s tennis team. She plays #2 singles and #1 doubles. Emilie loves having the opportunity to compete with her talented teammates and respects her supportive and experienced coaches. She says “being able to represent Saint Mary’s through athletics has been such an honor and wonderful experience that I will cherish forever.” She also serves as President of the National Art Honor Society, is a member of the National Honor Society, Vice President of Latin Club, Model UN, and a class representative on the Community Service Committee.

Leann Kelly ’17, Volleyball

Leann is a boarder from Atlanta, GA. Her parents are Michael and Karen Kelly. Leann is a three-year member of the Saint Mary’s volleyball team. As the manager she enjoys being a part of a team being involved off the court. Leann is a Marshal, a member of the play/musical, and Yearbook.

Catherine Langston ’17, Field Hockey

Catherine is a boarder from Goldsboro, NC. Her parents are John and Paige Langston. Catherine is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team and plays center-mid. She says “I have enjoyed mastering new skills over the years and playing as a team” and feels her teammates and coaches are irreplaceable. She is President of Model UN, a member of the Trapshooting Club, Food Council Representative, and Echo. She also plays in the winter and basketball in the spring.

Kyser Lineberry ’17, Cross Country

Kyser is a boarder from Greensboro, NC. Her parents are Keith and Nan Lineberry. This is Kyser’s first year as a member of the Saint Mary’s cross country team. She truly enjoys getting to know and spend quality time with her teammates. Kyser is a swimmer in the winter and plays lacrosse in the spring.

Mary Ashburn Mann ’17, Cross Country

Mary Ashburn is a boarder from Wilmington, NC. Her mom is Katherine Mann. Mary Ashburn is a two-year member of the Saint Mary’s cross country team and serves as manager. She loves spending and competing time with her teammates. Mary Ashburn is a boarding prefect, a Vestry member and loves to attend bible study. She also plays basketball in the winter and soccer in the spring.

Olivia Ng ’17, Cross Country

Olivia is a boarder from Raleigh, NC. Her parents are Peter Ng and Kyong Lee. Olivia is a three-year member of the Saint Mary’s cross country team, her fastest time this season is 24:20. She appreciates going on relaxing and challenging runs with her friends after a tough academic day. Olivia is also a member of the Spanish Club, Young Democrats Club, Environmental Club, International Cultures Club, Fair Trade Club, and Personal Finance Club.

Blair Poirier ’17, Field Hockey

Blair is a day student from Knightdale, NC. Her parents are Tim and Kristin Poirier. Blair is a first-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team. She loves spending time with her teammates and how supportive everyone throughout games and practices. Blair is a member of the National Honors Society, a Day Life Representative on Executive SGA, and the Young Republicans Treasure. She also plays soccer in the spring.

Vaughan Poole ’17, Field Hockey

Vaughan is a boarder from Charlotte, NC. Her parents are Ashton and Fran Poole. Vaughan is a three-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team and plays Center Forward. She loves spending time with her teammates and competing for one as a team. Vaughan is a Marshal, a member of the Athletic Council, and National Honor Society.

Emma Purdie ’17, Field Hockey

Emma is a boarder from Clinton, NC. Her parents are David and Shawn Purdie. Emma is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team, she plays defender and midfield. Emma loves playing on a team and improving her skills. She is also a member of the Judicial Board, Secretary of Beacon, and the leader of the Granddaughters. Emma also plays soccer in the spring.

Katie Rascoe ’17, Field Hockey

Katie is a boarder from Edenton, NC. Her parents are Peter Rascoe and Kathy Keel. Katie is a three-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team and plays outside- mid. She enjoys competing with her teammates and the encouragement from her Coach William Lehrmann with his awesome Venezuelan accent. Katie serves as a President of the Young Republicans Club, President of the Environmental and Garden Club, and a member of the Granddaughters Club. She also plays basketball in the winter and soccer in the spring.

Lindsey Schneider ’17, Cross Country

Lindsey is a day student from Raleigh, NC. Her parents are Adam and Michele Schneider. Lindsay is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s cross country team and her fastest time this season is 22:40. She enjoys going on runs with her teammates and challenging herself. Lindsay is a Student Ambassador, Day Prefect, a member of the Personal Finance Club, Latin Club, and Model UN. She also plays soccer in the spring.

Mary Hannah Sigmon ’17, Field Hockey

Mary Hannah is a day student from Raleigh, NC. Her parents are Hardin and Hannah Sigmon. Mary Hannah is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team and plays defense. She loves being on a team that pushes and hold each other accountable in games and practices and that also shares laughs. Mary Hannah also serves as Co President of the Granddaughters and Trapshooting Club, Athletic Council leader, Student Ambassador, and plays lacrosse in the spring.

Bonny Smith ’17, Field Hockey

Bonny is a boarder from Lexington, NC. Her parents are Douglas Smith. Bonny is a three-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team. She plays defense and enjoys getting to know her teammates and coaches. Bonny is a member of the National Honor Society, Treasurer of the National Art Honor Society, Secretary of the Spanish Club, and Co-President of the Yoga Club. She also plays lacrosse in the spring.

Kitty Redmond Strawn ’17, Volleyball

Kitty is a boarder from Beaufort, SC. Her mother is Jennifer Redmond. Kitty is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s volleyball team and serves as the team manager. She loves the spending time with her teammates and rides on the SMS bus. Kitty also serves as an Executive SGA Vice President, Vestry Member, the Head of Food Council. She also manages basketball in the winter and plays in the spring.

Hannah Ueland ’17, Tennis

Hannah is a day student from Cary, NC. Her parents are Michael and Colleen Ueland. Hannah is a captain and four-year member of the Saint Mary’s tennis team. She plays #3 singles, and #2 doubles. Hannah enjoys spending time outdoors engaging with teammates and competitors through the game of tennis. She is the President of Beacon, Senior Class Vice President, Vestry Member, a day prefect, and President of the Finance Club. Hannah also competes on the swim team in the Winter.

Hope Voelkel ’17, Field Hockey

Hope is a day student from Raleigh, NC. Her parents are Peter G. and Marcy Voelkel. Hope is a captain and four-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team and plays forward. She enjoys spending with her teammates getting to know new teammates, and learning important life skills. Hope also serves as Chief Marshal on the Executive SGA, Student Ambassador, is Vice President of the Young Republicans Club, a member of the Granddaughters Club, and both the National and Spanish Honor Society.

Lilah Wilfong ’17, Field Hockey

Lilah is a day student from Raleigh, NC. Her parents are Rick and Monica Wilfong. Lilah is a four-year member of the Saint Mary’s field hockey team and plays midfield. She plays because team building and lifelong friendships are important to her. Lilah is a member of the National Honor Society, Vice Chair of Judicial Board, and Captain of the Student Ambassador. She also plays soccer in the spring.
