Emmers is my best friend. I talk to him the most, I hang out with him the most, I’ve definitely given him the most belly -Welcome(p. 1) rubs out of anyone in my life. I’m sure he’s tired of playing the role of cat-therapist, but he doesn’t judge, he’s just a dumb -News(p. 1) cat. But he’s my dumb cat. My room is my safe haven. The way the soft, plush blankets brush against my bare limbs is -Sports(p. 2-3) -Tea with comparable to how you’d imagine a bed of soft, golden, earthy foliage would feel in an illustration. I can unwind and forget. The dull ache in my upper torso fades, and is slowly replaced by a small, comfy pressure against my chest. I like Gidget(p. 3-4) -Book basking in the familiarity of this feeling. He’s always there, laying on my bed. Nook(p. 4) I like to think of myself as average. I remember when I was younger, I used to be terrified of ordering food. I’d stutter, quickly chose something even
if I didn’t want it, and hand back the menu. Eventually, I just kept telling myself that they didn’t care. They won’t remember I exist tomorrow. You're here to eat, get what you want. Learning how to talk myself through things, or even just
learning how to avoid thinking about it, helped me grow as a person. I can explore my interests confidently. “It’s hard to have intrusive thoughts when you’re here, y’know?”
It seems clique, but that stupid cat has helped trudge me through a lot of emotional turmoil. I don’t know how,
