Has Erie’s winter snow accumulated feelings of fatigue, irritability, hopelessness or sadness? If so, you may be one of the 10 million Americans suffering from SAD, seasonal affective disorder. Psychology Today defi nes SAD as a type of depression that follows the seasons. The most common form of SAD is winter depression; however, summer depression also exists. In the late fall or early winter, people begin to feel symptoms of SAD, because it is related to changes in sunlight. On Jan. 31, dance organiza- tions from all over the Erie com- munity will come together for the fi fth biannual Erie Festival of Dance in the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center. The festival consists of two performances featuring the tal- ents of local dance companies. The Festival Showcase will take place at 3 p.m., and the Gala per- formance will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $5 to $15 and can be purchased by calling 824-3000 or by visiting the box offi ce at the PAC. This event began in 2000 as the Erie Dance Consortium, a group of performing dance ensembles from the Erie area with support of the Erie Art Museum.
