It is bounded by the operating processes. The Bundelkhand Craton (BuC) in Proterozoic Vindhyan Basin on all sides excluding the northern part the north-central India is one of the five Archean cratons where the cratonic appendage is concealed below the Indo-Gangetic which preserves signatures of Paleoarchean magmatism, Alluvium (Basu, 1986; Naqvi and Rogers, 1987; Goodwin, 1991; Archean subduction, Neoarchean metamorphism, Meert et al., 2010; Ray et al., 2015; Manglik et al., 2015; Meert and Pandit, 2015). Patches of basaltic outcrops (Deccan Traps) are spectacular craton-scale landforms as a testimony of observed to the SSW and SW marginal portions. The Great Boundary Paleoproterozoic episodic silico-thermal fluid activity Fault (GBF), the Central Indian Tectonic Zone (CITZ) and the and plume-generated mafic magmatism, and a Himalayan Frontal Thrust (HFT) are the three major tectonic elements Paleoproterozoic meteoritic impact event, currently the which constrain the surface disposition of the BuC to its western, seventh oldest in the world.

  • District Census Handbook, 23-Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh
_.___ . _ ... ~..... ~.... _~ __ ---:.v ____ .. _.__. __ ~ ________ DISTRICT CENSUS HANDBOOK 1951 JHANSI DISTRICT -------------- FOREWORD Several States, including Uttar Pradesh, have been publishing village statistics by districts at each census. In 1941 they were published in U. P. under the title "District Census Statistics" with a separate volume for each district. In the 1951 census, when the tabulation has been more elaborate than ever in view of the require .... ments of the country, the district .. wise volume has been expanded into a "District Census Handbook", which now contains the District Census Tables (furnishing data with break .. up for census tracts within the district), the District Index of Non .. agricultural Occupations, agricultural statistics from 1901.102 to 195°"51 and other miscellaneous statistics in addition to the usual village population statistics. The village population statistics also are given in an elaborate form giving the division of the population among eight livelihood classes and other details. 2. It may be added here that a separate set of district .. wise volumes giving only population figures of rural areas by villages and of urban areas by wards and mohallas and entitled "District Population Statistics" has already been published. This separate series was necessitated by the urgent requirements of the U. P. Government for elections to local bodies. 3. The number of District Census Handbooks printed so far is fou~teen. Special arrangements for speeding up the printing have now been made and it is hoped thafthe remaining Handbooks will be pri.nted before the end of 1955. RAJESHW ARI PRASAD. • Granite-Hosted Molybdenite Mineralization from Archean
Granite-hosted molybdenite mineralization from Archean Bundelkhand craton-molybdenite characterization, host rock mineralogy, petrology, and fluid inclusion characteristics of Mo-bearing quartz JKPati1,∗, M K Panigrahi2 and M Chakarborty1 1Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, University of Allahabad, Allahabad 211 002, India. 2Department of Geology and Geophysics, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur 721 302, India. ∗Corresponding author. e-mail: [email protected]; [email protected] The dominantly high-K, moderate to high SiO2 containing, variably fractionated, volcanic-arc granitoids (± sheared) from parts of Bundelkhand craton, northcentral India are observed to contain molybdenite (Mo) in widely separated 23 locations in the form of specks, pockets, clots and stringers along with quartz ± pyrite ± arsenopyrite ± chalcopyrite ± bornite ± covellite ± galena ± sphalerite and in invisible form as well. The molybdenite mineralization is predominantly associated with Bundelkhand Tectonic Zone, Raksa Shear Zone, and localized shear zones. The incidence of molybdenite is also observed within sheared quartz and tonalite–trondhjemite–granodiorite (TTG) gneisses. The fluid inclusion data show the ◦ ◦ presence of bi-phase (H2O–CO2), hypersaline and moderate temperature (100 –300 C) primary stretched fluid inclusions suggesting a possible hydrothermal origin for the Mo-bearing quartz occurring within variably deformed different granitoids variants of Archean Bundelkhand craton. 1. Introduction Hasan 1997;Pati1997; Pati and Panigrahi 2005). However, studies on molybdenite associated with The Archean Bundelkhand craton (hereinafter copper-gold of Late Archean–Early Proterozoic age referred to as ABC) is one of the five Archean are very well known from Malanjkhand, Mad- cratons (Aravalli, Bastar, Bundelkhand, Dharwar, hya Pradesh state, India (Panigrahi et al. 1993; and Singhbhum) exposed in the peninsular shield Panigrahi and Mookherjee 1997;Steinet al.
