QUALIFICATION (a) Eligibility In order to be eligible to participate in the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games, athletes must: (1) meet the performance standards prescribed by the Qualification System; (2) meet the age eligibility requirements prescribed by the Qualification System; (3) meet and continue to observe the eligibility requirements for Australian competitors described in the Olympic Charter; (4) meet the age eligibility requirements which is male athletes born 1996 (15 or 16 years at time of competition) and female players born in 1994 (17 or 18 years) of age at time of competition. (b) IF Qualification System 1. The 15 male and 15 female athletes (from a nation not competing in either the men’s or women’s team tournaments) selected as the top athletes in their category from the Global Qualifying Round of the Skills Challenge will qualify to compete in the individual skills challenge at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games. 2. NOMINATION BY ICE HOCKEY AUSTRALIA 1. In order to be nominated by Ice Hockey Australia for selection to the 2012 Australian Winter Youth Olympic Team, each Athlete must participate in the WYOG-2012 Skills Testing Program as designed by IIHF. The testing program is based on actual skills that a player uses when playing the sport.
