SiTF’s mission is to serve as the voice of the Singapore infocomm industry and to deliver value by providing our members with opportunities to strengthen their capabilities, increase their market presence and extend their business reach.

To achieve our objectives, we adopt a six-pronged approach which comprises:

SITEX 2009

he longest running consumer IT exhibition in Singapore, SITEX, had its T best-ever showing in its 21-year history when it achieved a record visitorship of over 850,000 in 2009.

The show took up 20,000 sq m of floor space at the Singapore Expo, with over 500 brands of IT products presented by some 200 exhibitors.

Held from 26-29 November 2009, it was the last major IT fair of the year. Besides providing an excellent platform for companies to showcase and launch IT products, services and technologies to a wide audience, it was also a good opportunity for consumers to get a headstart on their Christmas shopping.

Both exhibitors and visitors were highly satisfied with SITEX 2009. A survey found that 92 per cent of the exhibitors met their business objectives of increasing sales and raising awareness of their products and services while 94 per cent indicated that they will return to the show in 2010. As for the visitors, 94 per cent said they will be back for SITEX 2010.

SiTF Golf Classic 2010

he Orchid Country Club provided the setting for SiTF’s eighth annual TGolf Classic on 23 April 2010. Nearly 220 golfers competed in 51 flights or skills groupings at the Dendro, Vanda and Aranda courses until rain stopped play at 5 pm.

Due to the wet weather, scores for only the first nine holes were taken into account to determine the champions. In addition, 25 golfers walked away with lucky draw prizes.

Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade & Industry, was the guest of honour at the dinner, during which prizes were presented to the winners. The evening of entertainment included singing performances and a magic show.

Part of the fun was for a good cause. A series of casino games such as Black Jack, Big-Small and Bingo were played and the proceeds donated to the Society for the Physically Disabled.

Security & Governance Chapter

he Security & Governance Chapter (SGC) supports the development of TSingapore as a regional IT security hub by focusing its efforts on professional and industry certification, regional promotion, and training and education. Security roadshows for Institutes of Higher Learning SGC successfully conducted two roadshows – one at the Singapore Management University (SMU) on 23 September 2009 and another at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) on 13 January 2010.

SOA Developer’s Day 2009 The transition to cloud computing was evident in the theme of the 2009 SOA Developer’s Day, during which talks and hands-on workshops addressed the key challenges faced by the new technology development domain. Various companies such as F5 Networks, IBM Singapore, Microsoft and Oracle also showcased their solutions and provided insights into cloud development.

Held at Nanyang Polytechnic’s Theatre for the Arts on 18 September 2009, the full-day event attracted close to 150 developers, architects and IT professionals.

Momo evening The Wireless Chapter re-kindled its relationship with Mobile Monday (Momo) Singapore by co- organising the latest MoMo event on 17 May 2010 at Harry’s Bar in Chijmes. With sponsorship from M1, the event saw a turnout of over 100 professionals not only from the mobile and IT industries but also from public relations companies and non-profit organisations. The Wireless Chapter Chairman Mr Ken Chua and SiTF Industry Alliance Manager Mr Gary Tan took advantage of the event to explain the mission of SiTF and WIC, and to woo new members.
