D’une superficie de 200 ha, la propriété est partagée par l’Université de Sherbrooke et la Ville de Sherbrooke. L’objectif de l’essai est de recommander des pistes d’actions concernant la gestion du parc du Mont-Bellevue afin d’optimiser la cohabitation des usages et de consolider la durabilité du parc. Pour y parvenir, trois objectifs spécifiques ont été définis. Le premier est d’analyser les impacts environnementaux des activités récréatives du parc du Mont-Bellevue. Le second est de dresser un portrait des utilisateurs du parc, de leurs préférences et des conflits existants. Enfin, le troisième est de procéder à une analyse intégrée des activités d’un point de vue social et environnemental. Les questions associées aux activités récréotouristiques ont longtemps été réparties entre les préoccupations de nature écologique (les impacts environnementaux, etc.) et celles de nature sociale (l’achalandage trop élevé des parcs, les usages conflictuels, etc.).
