THE SMITHS - COMPLETE the Ultimate Smiths Collection im Auftrag: medienAgentur Stefan Michel T 040-5149 1467 F 040-5149 1465 [email protected] THE SMITHS - COMPLETE The Ultimate Smiths Collection. Fully Remastered by Johnny Marr. And if the people stare, then the people stare, I really don’t know and I really don’t care.” Doch als gerade mal zwei Jahre darauf „Strangeways Here We Come“ veröffentlicht wurde, waren die Smiths bereits Geschichte.

  • Simon Travers Roddy
Simon Travers www.stackhousejones.com Roddy Frame, the Prophets and Brexit. I was a remainer. The night after the vote, I was out at an open mic night on Mutley Plain. I drank Old Rosie cider and struggled to remember my words. Walking home, my sadness was that Brexit felt like divorce. I had my headphones with me, so I found 'Over My Head' by Aztec Camera on You Tube. You probably won't know this song. It's from an album called Stray that came out in October 1990. I may be making this up, but I think I bought that album on a French exchange trip. I definitely remember hearing the lead single 'Good Morning Britain' on the video jukebox they had on the ferry. I put 'Epic' by Faith No More on the video jukebox. I was very rock at the time and heroically hopeless at talking to girls. But 'Over My Head' is not very rock. It's Roddy Frame's attempt at a jazz standard ballad. It's the wrong song on the wrong album; the follow up album that didn't sell as well; the album that in hindsight, comes nowhere close to Hats by The Blue Nile which came out a year before. Yet, it is a part of the soundtrack of my life, a song that in my head signifies divorce. When my mum and dad separated finally the following summer of 1991, my mum said that we should have one more family meal before my dad left home, an orderly retreat.

  • World Music Day Questions
Musical Styles Through the 20th Century Comprehension Worksheet Swing and Big Band Swing began in the late 1920s but it was between 1935 and 1946 when big band swing music became the most popular music in America, also known as the Swing Era. A typical song played in swing style would include a strong rhythm accompanied by wind, string or brass instruments, also including vocals. A soloist would commonly take centre stage and improvise a solo with the band in the background. One of the best known big band leaders includes Glenn Miller. His famous hit ‘In the Mood’ stayed at the top of the charts for 13 weeks! There were a large number of musicians in a swing band which meant it was more expensive than a small group. By the late 1940s, this type of music was less popular, however swing music had a revival in the late 1950s and 1960s when singers, such as Frank Sinatra, sang with swing bands. In 2001, Robbie Williams recorded an album of popular swing covers. Rock and Roll Rock and roll is a popular music style which came from America during the late 1940s and early 1950s. It developed out of other African American musical styles such as boogie woogie, blues, country music and gospel music. In the early 1940s, the saxophone or piano were often the lead instrument but this was replaced with the guitar in the 50s. The classic rock and roll sound is created with one or two electric guitars, an electric bass guitar, a string bass and drums.
