I would also like to extend my thanks to all of our loyal customers who have demonstrated their devotion to the world’s leading luxury automobile brand time and again. This is our first issue under the renamed “Mercedes-Benz Magazine Egypt” name, and our first Mercedes magazine issue since 2011, due to readers’ preoccupations with pressing political and economic issues that were taking place during this period. As a result of widespread requests from avid readers to resume regular issues, our magazine is back again with an all new name, look and very exciting market updates. As part of our constant effort to reach our dedicated customers, we’re also utilizing this magazine to build a platform where we can create a dialogue to hear your requests and questions. We’ll also be covering our local news, events and sports activities, which are all a vital part of strengthening much sought-after communications with readers. Visitors to the Mercedes-Benz Egypt stand at the Automech Formula motor show couldn’t help but be amazed at what the company had on display. Three AMG-variant cars and a white C-Coupe fronted the dis- play, and together with the brand new A-Class on a special platform at the rear of the booth they were the stars of the exhibition. This was the first time that the Egyptian public had the opportunity to see the new A-Class, and the massive turnout at the Mercedes-Benz stand was due in large part to the attraction offered by this unique car. The motorshow was held on the 17th-24th January 2013 at the Cairo International Confer- ence Center. Mercedes-Benz Egypt also had seven other cars on display, including the GLK-Class, B-Class, C-Class and E- Class, while a stand featuring the latest Mercedes-Benz accessories was also on display. 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix Interlagos Nov. 25, 2012

A thrilling Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos on November 25th saw Michael Schumach- er end his Formula One career with a battling seventh place finish, whilst Nico Rosberg came home in 15th place after a dramatic and rain-affected race.

We saw a very dramatic race today and a fitting -fi nale to a great season for Formula One. From our perspective, the two punctures early on put us in a difficult position with both cars. Nico’s car suffered a lot of damage and that made his race very difficult. Michael’s puncture wasn’t as severe and the team did a good job to recover, with some help from the safety car. Michael showed all of the skills that we know he has today to salvage his race; considered overtaking, good decisions on tyre strategy and he kept the car on the road to bring us home some points. It was a nice way to finish the season and his career with us. In terms of results, his second spell in Formula One hasn’t been as special but it has been so for all of us who have had the privilege of working with him. It has been a real honour for all of the boys and girls at our team, and working alongside Michael gives you a real understanding of why he is so special and has achieved seven world championships. He will be missed and we all wish him the very best for the fu- ture. Congratulations to Sebastian on achieving his third world title today, a very impressive achieve- ment.

What an incredibly dramatic way to round off a long championship season! Michael and Nico had to make unplanned stops for punctures caused by debris on the track, losing a lot of time in the process. Both cars sustained damage to their underbody as a result, which affected downforce and pushed up lap times, with Nico’s car suffering more than Michael’s. In his final race, Michael mastered the difficult, damp conditions on the track in impressive style, battling his way through to seventh place. It was great to see Michael overcoming all these problems to finish among the points in his last ever Formula One race. We thank Michael not only for his tremendous dedi- cation and his racing achievements for our team, but also for those great personal qualities that he mani- fested at all times. The three seasons he spent with us will always serve as a model of team play at its best. Further victories in the first year of the W 25 included Rudolf Caracciola win- ning the Klausen race in Switzerland, Luigi Fagioli’s triumph in the Coppa Ac- erbo at Pescara and victory in the Ital- ian Grand Prix in Monza. With a total of around 1,300 bends and chicanes to be negotiated, Monza was the most difficult fixture of the 1934 racing season. Rudolf Caracciola was still not fit enough after his accident to get through the whole race and was in considerable pain. Half- way through the race his place at the wheel of the car with the starting num- ber 2 was therefore taken by Luigi Fagi- oli. The Italian, whose own car had been retired early with technical problems, was able to defend the advantage built up by Caracciola right to the finishing line. At the Spanish Grand Prix the Mercedes- Benz racing team won once again and took their first double victory, with Luigi Fagioli winning ahead of Rudolf Carac- ciola. Fagioli then finished second in the Masaryk Grand Prix in Brno.

Mercedes-Benz was thus once again back at the forefront of international mo- tor racing. After the 1934 season this could no longer be doubted. The Stutt- gart team responded to the successes of their strong rivals from Auto Union in the 1935 season by making various further improvements to the W 25. The most powerful engine – M 25 C – now produced an output of 494 hp (363 kW) at 5800 rpm from a displacement of 4310 cubic centimetres. This was the car with which Mercedes-Benz would almost com- pletely dominate the 1935 racing season. Rudolf Caracciola was back on top form and won the Tripoli Grand Prix, the Eifel race, the French Grand Prix, the Belgian Grand Prix, the Swiss Grand Prix, and the Spanish Grand Prix. The lead driver for the Silver Arrows was thus given the title of European Champion, awarded that year for the first time.
